Topic: The Doctrine of the Son – Part 4
Ministering: Pastor Emeka Egwuchukwu
It is possible for a man to be occupied with doctrines and it is not good for a man to distribute himself into too many waters. While we have to relate with some streams, our commitment must be to a fountain because each sheepfold has its peculiarity, which is seen in the uniqueness of the meal they are served in the spirit. Where a sheepfold stands before God is determined by the meal the fold is exposed to. Take for instance, feeding culture, habits and styles vary from home to home. This, notwithstanding, food in every home is prepared for the sake of health and resistance to diseases; not for commercial purposes. A child who lives only on what fast food restaurants prepare will be stunted in his growth because those restaurants are set up to make money, not to make anyone healthy. At home, your craving for variety will not be satisfied because the diet is often monotonous. We have to know that the food we eat spiritually fashions and gives you a disposition in the spirit.
There is so much emphasis on the doctrine of Christ because our safety in the last days hinges on having a working understanding of it. This is also why spirits attack it because any deficiency in this doctrine will remove something from our building in the understanding of God. The revelation of Jesus was given to Him by God (Revelation 1:1). Revelation means understanding. The major show in the book of revelation is the understanding that is in Christ Jesus. The book is about the understanding of Jesus Christ which God gave to Him. It is the understanding which God has, that He gave to Jesus for Him to show His servants. There is no way we will be able to understand God without Jesus. Jesus is the One who was given the understanding (1 John 5:20). He has been made an entity of understanding and whenever any soul rapports and interacts with Him, such a one can know God.
We are to behold the face of Jesus, who is the entrance into the Father and God. Without Him, the door to the Father is shut. Jesus called Himself the door because it is by Him that man can enter into God. If you enter through another door, you will miss your way and end up somewhere else. There are many domains of spirits ready to accommodate souls. If you go through the wrong way, you will fall into the hands of evil spirits. We enter God via understanding, and this understanding is Who Jesus Himself is. The antichrist spirit is sent for this reason: to attack the tripod stand upon which the understanding of God rest, which are “Jesus as the Christ” (1 John 2:22), “Jesus as the Son of God” (1 John 5:5) and “Jesus Christ coming in the flesh” (1 John 4:2).
John wrote, “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist” (2 John 1:7). There is “the antichrist” and there are antichrists. These deceivers must have come in from somewhere; they must have entered into the world at some point because they were not there from the beginning. Paul told us, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6). God has diverse operations with Him. He is Spirit, and what He makes are spirits. “Elijah“, for example, is an operation prepared by God. He carefully weaved this operation to show that the “Lord is God“.
According to the art of the apothecary, ointments or anointing are mixtures of different compounds that give a unified savor or scent. This scent relays a particular kind of message because fragrances announce people! What God makes, however, are spirits, not perfumes. David described different spices collected from ivory palaces that are in God, which make Him glad (Psalm 45:8). This gladness is joy and strength to perform something. What was used to make the Son was from no other place, but in God. Substances found in all the ivory palaces in God were used to make a particular mixture, with a kind of operation. There is “spirit” as a being and there is “spirit” as an operation. When a spirit is prepared, God begins to seek a tailor-made vessel that will allow that spirit manifest fully on the earth. God can begin to trail the desired wearer of this operation four generations before his or her birth. God tailors the lifestyle of the recipient to fit into the operation. The reason for such tailoring and fashioning is to bring the recipient of that spirit to the exact fit of the spirit.
God promised to send Elijah again (Malachi 4:5). Do you think he could have been saying to send the man Elijah again? No! Rather He implied that He would send the spirit of Elijah again. It was later we saw that this spirit actually rested upon John the Baptist (Matthew 17: 10-13). This Elijah spirit on John the Baptist was with the children of Israel but they were not able to discern him because they were carnal in their thoughts. Maybe part of why they could not is because he did not call down fire like Elijah did. John was actually the New Testament version of Elijah. You cannot see him the way you saw the Elijah in the Old Testament because he was sent to prepare the Way by bringing light (knowledge) and understanding. This is in consonance with the prophecy given by his father (Luke 1:76-79).
I believe this same spirit is also what came upon John, the Lord’s apostle. The operation that was with ‘John the beloved‘ was very similar to that of Elijah. “Eli” means “my God” while “Jah” means “Lord”. The name “Elijah” is the revelation of God in Jesus. You cannot know God (Elohim) without Jesus Christ (Adonai). God is a lot more difficult to crack, unlike Jesus Christ. It is not easy to see and understand God. However, if you can understand Jesus Christ, you are not far from understanding who God is. This is because Adonai is the One who has the ability to show God without any veil. That is why we can heed the injunction given in Hebrews, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). The throne of grace will give you mercy, which will in turn cause you to find grace. Adonai is the throne of grace and it is of His fullness that we have received grace for grace (John 1:16). He is the stature of grace and in this stature is mercy.
We need to obtain mercy. If God will grant us entrance, we must receive mercy. Where mercy will be found, however, is at the throne of grace (which is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself). It is the mercy that you receive that causes you to find Grace. This means when you arrive at the throne of grace, you need to obtain mercy to find Grace. John said, “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life” (1 John 5:20). Comparing this scripture with Hebrews 4:12 makes it clear that it is an extension of grace, which God gives, that helps us to understand God. Without mercy, however, that understanding will not come. We need mercy for understanding and it is only then that we can say we have found God (Grace). The greatest need of man is to gain entrance into God.
You do not necessarily need the grace and mercy of the throne of grace for carnal needs. The most prominent need of man is to enter God, but there is way to enter. We find Grace via understanding. It is with this understanding that we breakthrough and find ourselves in the true God, even eternal life. We need to find Jesus. When you find Him through understanding, you have received help. Jesus is the help to God. God has laid up help upon the One who is strong – Jesus. If you have not found grace (God), you need help (Jesus). You need help to come into God. For Moses to see the back of God, he was put in the cleft of the rock, which is Christ in a figure.
God is the invisible God! If you do not turn to the Lord, the veil will not be lifted. This is why wicked spirits are attacking the revelation of Christ. They do not bother going against the Father. They know Jesus is the Way to the Father! Jesus is a door. Antichrists are fake doors and are called deceivers. They attack the doctrines that are of Christ. They can say Jesus is Christ, but not “the Christ” (1John 2:22). They also claim that Jesus is a son just like many other sons. These are all lies! Jesus is not just a son but He is “the Son of God” (1 John 5:5). He was not made (created) so; He was born! What makes Jesus peculiar is that He is the Son of God’s love. God gave His only Son, the One whom He loved just like Abraham did. Abraham gave portions to the rest of his sons, but left the inheritance for Isaac. The Inheritance is with Christ! The Son of God, Jesus Christ, is different from angels. He obtained a more excellent name than the angels (Hebrews 1:4).
While I am not against portions, you need to know that portions are different from the Inheritance. Because angels have portions from God, what they do is use them against His Christ. True angels do not use their portions against Christ, but help saints to access Christ. The angel that came to John was an angel of the Lord and was the one who showed John the things he saw. Another example was the angel that helped Cyrus; same with Daniel. Angels are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to them that shall be heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). On the other hand, fallen spirits are against saints accessing the only Way, which is Christ. They lead saints through other doors that will never end them up in the Inheritance.
Jesus is the Son of God and the Son of Love. He is come in the flesh. He is God manifested in the flesh. God will soon be manifested in us also! Any spirit that says Jesus Christ is not come in the flesh is the deceiver, an antichrist (1 John 4:2). Such spirit can come upon a man to stop him from coming to Christ. Mountains are high things that need to be cast down. Some of these are kinds of knowledge that contest with the knowledge of God, in Christ. They do nothing but veil men and prevent the Lord from being seen. The Way of the Lord has to be prepared. These spirits will rather cast a stumbling block by raising arguments, teachings and knowledge to make men doubt the truth. If care is not taken, one can tarry with such mountains and, at the end, find out he or she has obtained nothing.
Evil spirits want us to oppose the fact that Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, has come in the flesh. If we, however, hold the three stands of the doctrine of Christ (Jesus as the Christ, Jesus as the Son of God, Jesus Christ coming in the flesh), we will surely find God!
