Topic: Unveiling the Works of God – Part 1
Ministering: Rev. Kayode Oyegoke
The theme for this year’s Convention is “Sounding the mystery of God”. These are the days of the manifold wisdom of God. The Bible says God’s programme is “To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God” (Ephesians 3:10). We will teach the sayings of God, which are the utterances of the seven thunders, for a long time. They contain within them the many-sided wisdom of God, not of Christ. This is the hidden manna. Paul said, “I was called to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8), until the intent of principalities and powers knowing the wisdom by the church is achieved through the church. Paul had a revelation of this wisdom but it was not given to him to declare- that allocation was for Apostle John (2 Corinthians 12:2-4). The allocation of Paul was to pour out the mystery of Christ which prepares the church for God (Ephesians 3:3-4). He brought it to the border line — the mystery of the Father. His exploits in the book of Hebrews also speaks of the grace with which he laid the foundation for the mysteries of God.
Paul said, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18). This tells us that faith is the evidence of the coming glory! God has given us something better than those who have ever walked by some kind of faith before and Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). After He finished faith, a joy was set before Him. He endured the cross and despised the shame. This was the same reason Paul admonished the Galatians Church not to be weary in well doing, that God shall surely come (Galatians 6:9). The coming of God is the coming of glory. The coming of God, which is the ability to see the tangibility of God, is the reward of faith. God is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). He will reward us with Himself. He will come and will not tarry. This is why we are asked to wait and these doctrines are all what Jesus taught in His parables.
The Bible says, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand” (Revelation 1:1-3). “This Prophecy” in verse 3 is the Word of God, which became the testimony of Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament, Enoch was translated because he had a testimony at that time (Hebrews 11:5). There is also another testimony in the New Testament. What became the testimony of Jesus is the very Word of God, which Jesus used and became. This testimony became a prophecy, which is a pattern to walk with and none can do this without becoming a prophet.
John wrote, “And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10). The angel who asked John not to bow before him was not referring to the Cadre of Elijah as prophets, but those who had the testimony of Jesus. God gave the Word of God, which is also the gift of God, to Jesus Christ. There is a difference between Christ’s gift and God’s kind of gift. Jesus had to become Christ to access and receive God’s gift as His. It has been God’s plan that man will come into Godhood through Jesus Christ. This is why He gave Jesus a revelation of Himself to make Him God. When the Word was made flesh (John 1:14), He relinquished all things that had to do with Godhood. The Word started from flesh and then became God. This was the oath God promised Abraham, that out of flesh, men will arise into Godhood. God swore that He would make sure man develops the manifold faces of Himself. The face (depth) of God is multi-dimensional; meaning, His dimension has many faces.
Lucifer tried to take this dimension to himself and that is why he got separated from God. What he took on himself, which killed him, is what God is calling us to obtain. These places are fearful realms. We need fear to journey into the heart of this terrain in God! This is however attainable and it will come to pass that man will develop divine features! This is not because we want to, but we will be brought up by grace, unlike Lucifer who allowed lust to consume him rather than love. Within the word of God is the essence of Divinity programmed. There is a form of God which Jesus was in before He took another form as a man (flesh). It was God who later highly exalted Him. He showed us a pattern of waiting for God because He did not raise Himself. To have God is to be blessed!
God gave this Word to Jesus, and Jesus showed it to His servants. By showing, it means He revealed this Word. You need to journey to know all the dimensions of Jesus Christ, who has become God (Hebrews 1:8)! In flesh, Jesus is hidden and He was not puffed up. This is because His Father is not puffed up. They leave the revelation of Who They are for the Holy Ghost to do. They allow the Holy Ghost, who in turn does not talk about Himself, to talk about them. They do not talk about themselves. It is not right to talk about yourself! When Paul said things pertaining to his ministry, it was not to boast or draw attention to himself but to make the people know where he was coming from and that what he taught was the revelation he had from the Lord.
God cannot be known except Jesus is revealed. God cannot be known except you receive Him in Jesus. This is why God downloaded all the fullness of the Godhead in Him. The Lord said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8). When you graduate from loving the brethren, you come into the realm of the beginning of God, which is Alpha. After this, you come into the realm of the Omega of God. These two immutable things, which God swore by, are things which Jesus came into (Hebrews 6:18). There is the beginning of the revelation of God (Alpha) and there is the end of it (Omega). John said, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last…” (Revelation 1:10-11). These two dimensions of God encapsulate His deity. When these two come together, the puzzle of God is complete. The divine essence is divided into these two compartments.
We see these represented in different ways through the entire Bible. For instance, there are two trees of the tree of life; one is on either side of the river of life. One is Alpha and the other is Omega. This is the same in the Holy place. The showbread is divided into two; six pieces of a loaf placed beside six pieces of another loaf. The declaration of Alpha and Omega is the declaration of God. It was God who was walking and judging in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks (the seven churches). These churches are to be respected! The hidden manna in the most Holy place is not kept in an earthen vessel but in a golden pot. That presupposes that such a vessel is a most holy entity. A soul that has arrived at such a point is one who has eaten from the Holy of Holies.
We have taught the seven churches with the formation of the Son in us but I want us to see the seven churches now in a deeper dimension. Let us look at the church of Ephesus today! The Lord said, “Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks…” (Revelation 2:1). The Lord holds the seven stars in His right hand and they do not fall off His hand because they are engraved in the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16). These churches are the palm trees of the cherubim realm. They are on His face. When the palm is opened, it speaks of a face ministry, which is a type of rain that comes from knowledge. These seven stars are on the palm of Jesus. The Lord said, “I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars…” (Revelation 2:2). It is at this point God becomes strict with the New Testament.
Pastors need to read and learn this syllabus (works, labour, patience, among others) and tarry with the discipline of keeping the flock — this is because, they will be tempted to please men and open the sheep fold to be assaulted. This will make you know the responsibility of a minister of the gospel. We must shield the legacy of shielding the flock and laying our lives down for them. This was the war the apostles were fighting. They were fighting spirits that tend to assault the church while the construction of God in men was going on. None of these seven churches were small churches. They were churches that have passed through the labour of Christ. Those who are evil (Revelation 2:2) are those that break the code of the Testament because their hearts are not aligned to truth. How we know true apostles is by their alignment. You will find the revelation of Paul in Peter and then in Jude. These apostles are in alignment with one another. If you are working for God, you must stay within the status-quo of “what is written“. We must never forget that Jesus overcame Satan with “what is written” (Matthew 4: 4:7 and 10). Satan knows if Jesus moved from what was written, he would defeat Him.
Stay with what is written and do not harden your heart to it. There can never be any other foundational apostles, what we have now are ‘following or building’ apostles. There is a status-quo in the spirit. Once you get used to what is written, you will never fail and neither shall you fall. When you are developing into manhood, you will be tested against what is written. You have to be strong. When a house is to be built, God has always told the builders to be strong and courageous. For instance, God had to tell Joshua to be strong and of good courage, so that he will have good success in the venture of God (Joshua 1:7-8). A weakling cannot complete the building of God; you have to be strong to do so! One who will compromise standard and reduce the quality of the substance will not be able to build. To do a good job is expensive and if you will build the house of God, there is a price to pay!
The Lord spoke about these false apostles as liars (Revelation 2:2). Apostles are builders of houses. Many self-acclaimed apostles, however, are not full apostles, or even genuine in the first place! The apostles who laid the foundation and were builders were all revelational in nature. These apostles were also foundational stones, paced there by the Lord for the building up of the saints. A full Apostle that has come to the revelation of the New Testament does nothing but builds the house of God! The enemy hates them and this is why he hunts them down with persecution. Real apostles build! It is praiseworthy to help and encourage the building of God, through the hands of apostles. Do not tear the building down. Those who spoil that which is being erected are liars. Ministry must be done the accurate way and there is an order to conform to, if God must be brought down. Immediately God sees His building, He becomes eager to come (Psalm 102:16)! God is eager to come and He is willing to give Himself.
Jesus becomes severe and angry when it comes to the issue of housing God. He is a strict and wise Master-builder. The house, which is the soul of man, must be built. The zeal of His Father’s house is what consumes Him (John 2:17). Jesus had been so kind to everyone but the day He saw money changers selling in the temple, He was full of rage. That sight triggered something in Him, even though it was a physical temple that He saw. He saw beyond the act of buying and selling into the Father’s intention of what the house His built for. True apostles foster the building. This is why Paul, who laid the foundation, also said “let everyone be careful how he builds on it” (1 Corinthians 3:10).
The Lord said to the church in Ephesus, “And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted” (Revelation 2:3). Every church that must succeed in the building project (souls) must have the ability to discern true apostles. When you reject some men, who are false, you will suffer persecution. You have to, for this reason, bear whatever ills could be coming from men. Satan will, as a matter of fact, place such men in a place of advantage and make them have a voice among men. It is not love when you allow lying apostles stay! God wants to rest, do not cheat Him of His rest! The Lord went further, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love” (Revelation 2:4). The Ephesian church left the first love, which was given them to access the most holy place with. This church already had the covenant of life and had come into the covenant of peace. This church is not just a living church, but a peacemaker. Without having arrived at peace, you cannot come into the love of God.
The things they were commended of were things of Christ. They had done Christ and what remained was for them to do God. It was at this threshold that the dragon showed up. Jesus’ standard is so high. This church fell from the Alpha dimension of God. This was why He reminded them that He is ‘Alpha and Omega‘. They left Alpha, which was their first love, after it was given to them. This first love is not the love of the brethren. The Ephesian Church had come to the purity of heart that they could be given the Alpha dimension of God. This was written for us so we can see that it is possible to touch this dimension of God and fall from it. The Lord told them, “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent” (Revelation 2:5).
The purpose of church is for works. We were all recruited to do works. Jesus, the first Worker, is the One speaking to the seven churches. He is the only One who began to do before teaching (Acts 1:1)! He co-operated with the grace of God for His works to be finished in Himself. Jesus is gentle in the outer court, but in the Holy place, His judgment is severe. This is because it is in the Holy place that He unveils Himself to you. The Lord went further with the Ephesian church, “But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate” (Revelation 2:6). The doctrine of the Nicolaitans is that which fights the love of God and whoever will hate it must do so at his life’s expense (Revelation 12:11). Jesus knew the Ephesian Church still loved Him somewhere because they hated this doctrine.
The first love of Christ is that which passes all knowledge (Ephesians 3:19). It is the Alpha of God and love beyond the veil. The seven churches were given the right of way to do the works of the Most Holy. This, however, did not mean they had entered the Most Holy Place. They just had the right of way to eat from the Most Holy Place because of their patience, ability to bear and their commitment to Christ. This notwithstanding, when they came to the place of doing the Alpha of God, they fell short. The closer you get to God, the stricter the laws become and these laws must not be violated. The work of co-labouring with the Lord is a work for all, not just the preachers. As a matter of fact, you are responsible for the building of the life of God in your own soul; the preachers only supply the materials. The responsibility of building yourself up is yours (Jude 20). When you stay within a company and refuse to be built, God finds a way to take you out and sees you as a spot in the feast of charity (Jude 12). The warfare of the seven churches was with Satan. He was the one creating spirits to war with them. By the provision of God’s grace and mercy, we will overcome him because the Lord is with us!
