Believers’ Convention 2025 – Day 5 Morning Session – Reverend John Okposio

Date: Thursday, 21st August, 2025
Transcript Summary
- It is a privilege when God chooses to use you amongst others. Even if God does not give you anything in return for using you but saves your soul and includes your name in the book of life, it is enough.
- The experience of this Convention is a foretaste of not only what we will experience in heaven with the Lord but also what we will do at the end time. We should not be hasty about rapture, for there is still a lot of work for the Church to do. Rapture is not designed to make us escape the earth, rather, it is a program for God’s elite committed soldiers.
- Every believer is precious to God at their respective levels in the spirit. However, everyone is expected to keep growing from one stage to another. Thus, it is important to take corrections and learn in a healthy way or else, one would learn in a hard way.
- We should be patient like God when people around us misbehave. God is patient with us, for He has ordained and destined us for an inheritance, hence, we should quickly repent and move on whenever we make a mistake. We should not be too hard on ourselves and learn to forgive ourselves.
- If any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask God (Jam. 1:5). We should cultivate the habit of asking God questions if we are not clear on some matters. If God could allow Lucifer into His court to ask questions (Job 1), how much more His children!
- One of the ways you know you are on the right path when hearing from God is a peace you cannot explain, and joy (Rom. 14:17). Some believers are too lazy to wait and hear from God, hence, they look for alternative means to hear from God. However, we cannot compel God to speak to us how we want Him to, rather, we must wait on Him.
- We should learn from all the five-fold ministry (Eph. 4:11). Even if we are not called to be an apostle or prophet, we should have an apostolic and prophetic spirit in us because we are fellowshipping under these graces in our fathers. Thus, pastors should learn to gather the fivefold ministry and learn from them.
- We have no scriptural reason to worry or complain because that will be reducing God. We should rejoice always and pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:16-18). We should celebrate, praise and worship God and while doing so, we can still tell God our problems. When we do that, we are exalting God and recognising His omnipotence.
- Thanksgiving is a scriptural admonition both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. We should be grateful to God because of our spirit, soul, and body. Some of us should engage in special thanksgiving to God for our troubles with the devil because He was with us throughout those times.
- God is building the body and moving us forward. Everybody is important to God, hence, we should praise people more. God does this and praises His children at strategic moments to others. Do not exalt yourself, rather, allow God to exalt you (1 Pet. 5:6).
- Do not look down on anyone, learn to cherish people and not write them off. No matter what anyone has done, God can still change them, for we are all works in progress.
- The greater you are in the kingdom of God, the more humble you should be and the more you should esteem others above yourself (Philipp. 2:3). You should see the value in others and exalt them. Do not exalt yourself! Always put Jesus first, others next and yourself last. This is how you will be at your best spiritually.
- We should not be too rigid and depend only on the Bible, even though we cannot do without the Bible. Without the Bible, we would go astray, but we should be open to the teachings of the Holy Spirit when reading the scriptures or else, we would fail when some temptations come. We should not be letter oriented but spirit oriented (2 Cor. 3:6).
- Many of us know the word but fail in the face of temptations because we have not perfected our personal walk with the Holy Spirit. We should ensure we hold specific words given to us by the Lord for specific situations and do them. These words are not usually duplicated because the Lord will give another solution for another situation.
- We can read the Bible in different languages, but if we do not obey the specific words of the Lord to us, we will fail when temptation comes. These words of the Lord also include prophecies that we have received. The words of the Lord to us are the most important in our walk with the Lord, for they are specific to us and cannot be duplicated.
- The Holy Spirit is more feminine than masculine and can be referred to as our spiritual Mother. Women are more similar to the Holy Spirit. The feminine gender is a good gift from God and we should appreciate it; our natural frame is a good gift from God. Learn to appreciate genetics and what God has given you so the Holy Spirit will be happy with you.
- Knowledge is the accumulation of correct information. One can know the word of God so much as to preach and teach it, yet it may not give the solution that you seek. Claiming and understanding the promises in the word is not enough. Thus, it is important to hear from God personally on the application of the word.
- 10 percent of the time with God should be spent on the written word, 20 percent on personal revelations from God and 70 percent on the specific instructions of the Lord to us. However, if you are unsure that it is the Lord speaking to you, seek confirmation from the Lord and act on it once you are sure and He has confirmed the timing.
- Knowledge escorts us to the word, which is spiritual. Apart from the word, there is the spirit also which one cannot obtain from the written word – one must be guided and led into it by the Holy Spirit.
Blessings!
