Discerning the Manner of the Spirit of Truth
Transcript Excerpt
The persons of the Godhead are unchangeable, and that is what God through Jesus has come to give. The scripture said the law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). When Scriptures say that truth came by Jesus Christ, it means that the witness of truth had not been made available before the time of Jesus. So everyone, in a sense, was under darkness, sold under a lie.
Until God reveals what truth is, which is the truth that is in Their persons, we are still held perpetually under darkness, even though Jesus has died and resurrected for us to have access to truth.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed…” (John 8:31). A disciple is one who has seen a life and is willing to abandon his life to live after the conversation, manner and instruction of the one he is following. Jesus saying, “If you continue in My word, then are you my disciple indeed” means that we do not know the truth immediately we believe.
Knowing the truth is what grants us entrance into truth. The New Birth does not automatically confer on us entrance (John 3:3,5). Knowing the truth is a journey. A man can say that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life but not know Him, nor has seen Him or touched Him; such a soul cannot grasp His person. A man needs some age in the word for him to grow to attain a stature that can begin to deal with Persons of Truth.
Jesus said to the people who had believed on Him, “ And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). So, the journey of our life after we believe are seasons that God gives to us to grow in the word or to drink milk well. Those are preparations to actually meet the Truth Beings, because at a particular junction, God begins to deal with us in conversations of truth.
A believer can sincerely believe in Jesus but all of the Holy Ghost conversation around his life is never about truth, because he does not have age enough for truth discourse or truth unveiling.
Sometimes, Satan surrounds us with matters of this life or issues of our problem, and we can bother God about them so much that the Holy Ghost knows that He cannot begin to converse with us in matters around truth. A person can spend 30 or 40 years around that corridor, yet he has not gained age enough for the discourse of truth or for the giving of truth.
The Holy Ghost, though He also a Truth entity, does not speak of Himself; He does not come to a man witnessing Himself as Truth because one of the mandates upon Him is that He will not witness Himself (John 16:13). The Godhead do not speak of Themselves, so, there is He who the Holy Ghost is to speak of.
Even though the Holy Ghost is Truth, He may be around a man but not discuss truth as in the essence of Their person, until such a person is ready for the truth that is in Christ (Eph 4:21). The first encounter that a person begins to have of truth is the truth that is hidden in the person called Christ.
The first encounter of a person with the reality of Their person (The Godhead) is at the juncture where he is crossing over from the milk of the word to growing into Christ. The Holy Ghost will supervise the laying of the word in such a man, but that word is not the original truth; it is a preparation to meet a Person, just like the preparation seen in the natural school curriculum (from one lower level to another higher level).
Many believers are not sound in the word, so they cannot keep an appointment with truth. When truth is about to be delivered, they cannot keep an appointment with it because it needs to be divided. Truth is in the divisions. It is important to read Genesis to Revelation to be able to have understanding when Christ is being brought from the pages of scriptures, because somewhere there is not yet proper grounding and establishment in the word.
When things are being divided, somewhere, it just passes by many because it is an unfamiliar thing. So, it is difficult to lay hold on it; it is difficult to relate with or be brought into the world of the truth where the Holy Ghost can begin divisions. This is because the Holy Ghost will not show Jesus or God to a man outside of the word.
(John 14:16-17) There is a manner of the Spirit of truth that every proper child of God must know, a manner of the Spirit around the unveiling of truth or the revelation of the persons of the Godhead that everyone who is pursuing God for God must learn. This is our real learning; that is where our true inheritance lies.
A believer that does not learn the manner of the Spirit around truth or around the word can understand the manner of the Spirit around other leadings, but he will not have breakthrough in seeing the persons of the Godhead. Such will not have breakthrough into the realms of God until he can understand and submit to the manner of the leading of the Spirit of truth.
There is a training of the Spirit to bring one into judgments of truth. Sometimes, if you are a person who likes human rights, you will never understand the Spirit. One of the things I learned about our parents is the discipline of the Spirit in finding truth. God will bring some of us back into those places. They can blind their eyes to your cries and make demands of you to do things in your inconvenience, so that a spirit (of truth) will rest upon you.
“For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God” (1 Peter 2:20). That you suffer wrongfully and you bear it patiently is one of the ways they train a person who is learned in the Spirit. It is not just good but acceptable with God. If you want to grow from an unlearned soul, these are dealings that they will train you constantly in.
Being learned is not just knowing letters, it is the ability to take the discipline and training of truth.
“But ye have not so learned Christ; [21] If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:” (Eph 4:20-21). When they talk about learning, they are talking about truth. The next verse says “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.” So this learning is not just knowledge, it is training. If they have not led you, you don’t know that truth, and if you don’t know the truth, you don’t know their Person. The truth of their Person is more than knowledge.
You can say, ”Oh, we have put off concerning the old man that which is corrupt according to its deceitful lust, and we have put on the new man, ” but refuse the leadings that will actually bring you into the learning that will make you discover their Person. Their Person is more than knowledge. Their person is love.
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” It is the process of being rooted and guarded in love that makes them come to comprehend with all the saints what the length, the bread, the height, the depth, and the love of Christ that passes knowledge.
So, to be rooted and grounded is a training that Paul was praying that the Holy Ghost will supervise over a church. At the end of the day, a crop of people emerged. They are learned, not just in letters, they know God and know Christ. They had been led. They know the manner of the Spirit of truth.
If you despise that working of the Spirit, you will discover that all the community of truth can come corporately into another dispensation in truth, but you are locked out. You can have the cliche, you can have the words, but the dealing that will bring you into the actual experience of their Person is abstracted from you. If care is not taken, after a time, offense will come.
Blessings!
