Believers’ Convention 2025 – Day 2 Morning Session – Rev. (Dr.) Mrs. Mercy Ezekiel

BECON 2025 Ministers Conference | The Nature of a Minister

Date: Monday, 18th August, 2025

Transcript Summary

  1. Many ministers who preach do not have a link (relationship) with God, who is the owner of the Church. Many are good orators, but their lives project a different image from what they preach. Ministers must ask for mercy in order not to fail God.
  1. (Jer. 29:13). A lot of ministers seek God without their hearts involved. We must understand that our hearts must be involved when we are seeking God.
  1. Ministers and believers alike should seek the will of God in order not to fail (or fall short) concerning God’s expectations on how they ought to live. When we obey God and His commandments, the Holy Spirit will guide us.
  1. (John 14:26). The Holy Ghost is the best Friend we can ever have; He will teach us all things, comfort us, and bring all things to our remembrance. We must know that He is always there for us.
  1. A minister must also be prayerful. A lot of ministers do not spend time in the place of prayer but can copy messages to preach. There is no impact or transformation that such men can wrought. It is only in the secret place that a lot of mysteries will be opened up by the power of the Holy Ghost.
  1. (Luke 18:1).A lot of us faint easily because we do not have perseverance. That is why when we ask God for something and it is not coming, we quickly start looking for alternatives because we think God is late. But God is never late, and there is a season for everything.
  1. When we ask God for something, He is watching us and monitoring our reactions. We must persevere and hold on until our change comes.
  1. One nature a minister should not have is unforgiveness. You need to be forgiving for your prayers to be answered (Mark 11:25). We are to liberate ourselves before we think of liberating others. There is nothing too big that we cannot forgive.
  1. Another thing ministers need to be wary of is pride. It was pride that brought Satan down. Rather than displaying pride in things like money, cars, or houses, our pride should be in seeking God and holding on to Him, so that our lives can change.
  1. Ministers should watch out for ‘self’ in everything they do. No minister should think that without them, nothing can be done. A minister should also learn to tolerate others and not be easily irritated.
  1. A minister should be able to seek godly counsel from matured ministers and believers alike. Some people only prefer to stay in the company of their clique, who may not always have (offer) the right counsel. The words of elders are words of wisdom, although people see them as being outdated and old.
  1. A lot of people do not like the truth and make enemies with people who tell them the truth. These kinds of people are foolish. We should have a mature believer who knows the gospel and can always speak to us and tell us the truth. Those are men whose steps we should watch, learn from, and follow.
  1. (Prov. 1:5). A lot of people fail in the ministry because they do not want to be corrected or be under anyone. Nowadays, a lot of pastors do not want to go through the necessary processes; they are only after results. But our God is a Master Planner; there are people He ties us to whom we should not disconnect from.
