The Pursuit of Becoming the People of the Way
Transcript Excerpt
When we are dealing with the things of the Father, we are dealing with the things of the Kingdom. “…Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation…” (Matt. 6:9-13a NBM). Immediately bread came, the forgiveness of trespasses opened up. To trespass means transgressing the law of life (1 John 3:4). When the scripture says “Lead us not into temptation”, the kind of temptation is the temptation of them that are in the way. To be in the way means one is in the fellowship of the Son of God because the Son said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”
A man cannot find the way until the word of God is opened to him, because what gives the way is the word of God. What the word of God does to a soul is to open the way of everlasting life to him. In Christ, a man finds a way, but in the Son of God, he finds the way. It is definite; it is the way to the Father. When a soul begins to learn the word of God and has found mercy, that is, he has moved from precept to the secret of the word of God, the will of God is opened to him. What the secret of the word of God holds is the will of God. It is not easy to find the will of God.
Jesus taught in Matthew 7:13 that “wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction.” Perishing has mass production in souls. That is why one of the things that we must have a burden for is the harvest, especially for the lost sheep of Israel—men who are born again Christians and tongue-talking. They want to go to heaven, but the way is not opened to them. Jesus said in John 10:16, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd.” Until He brings them, they cannot hear His voice. They are sheep in their souls. They have been bought, but they are not hearing the voice of the Shepherd., He must bring them into the fold.
This is where we must bestow labour. God is looking for labourers: first of all, labourers who will cooperate with the Lord to become what God wants them to become; then labourers who will live right – every time they labour, they commit truth to every man’s conscience in the sight of God by their way of life, thus making men consider their ways and actions. These labourers have committed something to the conscience, and that conscience will not go dead. That activity of obedience leaves an imprint on men’s conscience such that even when they (the labourers) have gone, that thing is still speaking to that conscience. We will not find the way without the word of God, and that is why it is in the way they will teach sinners (Psa. 25:8).
If a man has not found the way, he will not find the law of God because the law of God is the truth. “I am the way, I am the truth;” that is the law. What the word of God is meant to do is to open every soul to the way of God. We must embrace and cooperate with the way of God as God begins to open the way to the Father that is in the Son, which every soul must walk in. It is in the way the Father brings further cleansing. It is in the way we are taught how not to keep sinning. The Father will teach us how not to transgress or trespass. Those are the blessings of the way; they are what the way holds to teach sinners in the way that the Son of God custodes. They consecrated that way in the veil of His flesh. It is in the veil of the body of Jesus. It is in the bread and in the water that They consecrated the new and the living way (Heb. 10:20). It is consecrated. The word of God, the bread, and the water hold the way.
The way is designed in such a way that when a man goes through it, he experiences cleansing. The way is a cleanser. We must be ready for the learning of God’s way so as to be a holder and keeper of the way. If we do not keep the way and master that way, we will not gain entrance into the way to the tree of life. We must first find the way into everlasting life before we can find the way to the tree of life. Christ is a promise, a promise of the life that now is (1 Tim. 4:8). Everlasting life is the promise of the life that is to come (1 Tim. 4:8). These are promises that we have in the Son of God.
Christ is also a way. It was said concerning Jacob in Isaiah 43:19, “…I will even make a way in the wilderness…” The way in the wilderness is kept in the Holy Ghost; it is kept in the leading and dealing of the Holy Ghost. It is the Holy Ghost that trains the soul in such a way. He subjects us there. Faith is a way. Hope is a way, and charity is the spirit of that way. Charity is the more excellent way (1 Corin. 12:31; 13:1-3). We are supposed to be a people of the way. That is what they first call Christians in the church—a people of the way. When a man is in the way, he will keep hearing the voice saying, “This is the way; walk ye in it” (Isa. 30:21). Though he may be a fool, he will never err because it is only fools that can walk the way of life everlasting. In this way, the Father will keep cleansing a man from the wisdom of this world, which he is full of. The way the word is designed is to purge men continuously. That is why when men have used and submitted to the way that is in the Son of God, they will have a testimony that is evident in the spirit. They will have a testimony that can never be gainsaid.
It is not easy to stop a people from transgressing or trespassing. Incorruptibility has levels but to even arrive at a time where one is no longer a transgressor, one no longer errs in the way, the first layer of the high priestly ministry of Jesus Christ, the ministry of the Son of God who can have compassion on them that are out of the way, will have to be administered to such (Heb. 5:2). The Son of God is seated in the churches like a refiner’s fire (Mal. 3:3). He is there as a messenger, who is to prepare the way and as a messenger of the covenant, who is to make sure that the way of the Lord is kept. These two ministries are in our midst.
Satan is not afraid of people that can speak knowledge; rather, he is afraid of people that can hold the way in their souls, that are in the way; that is why he is quick to tempt men that are in the way. The children of Israel were living well when they were in Egypt, but the day they began to enter the way that God prepared in the wilderness, everything began to work against them.
Jesus said, “Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses”. This tells us that when They (heaven) give a man bread, his trespasses are about to start receiving remission because what the bread holds is the way, and his trespasses are being forgiven. What makes a man trespass is what he is eating and doing because the bread is the will of God. As a man keeps doing the will of God with the whole of his heart, as heaven is instructing his soul, forgiveness of sin (not the forgiveness of sin that is in Christ but the reconciliation of his iniquity) is taking place. They (heaven) are reconciling his within. In that place, Satan knows that he can move in with temptations that tempt men that are in the way.
The way leadeth unto life; that means you will not find life except you have embraced the way and the truth. So, there is the way and there are the gates. Straight is the gate, narrow is the way, and that is life. In Matthew 7:14, you will find the way, you will find the gate and there is life. And Jesus said in John 14:6; “I am the way, I am the truth and I am the life”. So, we must know that the Father is particular about His sons learning the way, because it is very important to be able to find the gate into life. The way is what the Son of God is. In the Son is the gate of righteousness; the gate does not open to a man who has no way.
“Open to me in the gate of righteousness that the righteous might come in.” The righteous is whom the gate will open to (Psalms 118:20). And what makes the righteous is the way. The gates will not open to anyone except the righteous. So, the first learning in the Son of God, who is the word of God, that He has come to deliver to us is to give way on our inside. A man of the way is a righteous man. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous (1 John 3:7). Doers of righteousness are custodians of the way of life. That is how we begin our fellowship in the Son of God, where we allow the way of the Son of God to begin to cleanse us, purge us and insulate us against transgressing. Then, when we have mastered the way, we are ready for the gates to life. There is no man that is righteous that the gate will not open to.
Isaiah 26:2
[2] Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
To access the gate is to be a keeper of the truth, and keepers of the truth are knowers of the law of everlasting life. Truth is the law of life everlasting, because in the Son is the way, in the Son is truth, and in the Son is life; you need these three things to have access to the Father. Without these three things, the Father does not receive anyone. Our fellowship in the Son is to fellowship with these things: to fellowship with the way which is the program of the word of God; and to fellowship with the things of the testimony, which is the program of finishing the law, which is the truth of God, so that you can assess the testimony.
The testimony is the blood; it is the life, because the life of the flesh is in the blood, and testimony is the keeper of the life. What makes up the righteous nation is that they are keepers of the truth. They are not just keepers of the way, they are also keepers of truth, and keepers of truth are the holders of the law of God. The law of God is in their mind and in their heart, as Paul said in Romans 7:25.
It is a great victory to have the law of God in one’s mind and heart. That is where lies the victory from corruption. When a man begins to access the law of God, he is already in the corridors of counting his days of victories. So, we can see that God is very determined to make us a people of the way, and that will not stop with knowledge this year. We must desire precepts, and much more, doctrines. That was the desire of David as he said, “You will lead me in the way everlasting.” We experience leading in the pasture, leading in the light of truth, and enjoy living in life.
It is not enough to just have this desire; we must be committed to growth. The key to this thing is growth. We must desire growth and keep growing. We cannot be tired of growth. We must never be tired of growing. The reason the Father chastises, rebukes, corrects, disciplines and scourges is so that we can partake of His holiness. He chastises us so that we may be a partaker of His holiness which is His beauty. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he (Deut 32:4).”
The more you wait and obey God, the more light shines upon your heart to do better obedience. We are praying that heaven will show us mercy this year, and that we will become a people that have the way everlasting.
