Understanding the Operations of the Prophetic Nature
Transcript Excerpt
One of the things that is very evident in this season is that God is exalting the prophetic nature. It is obviously not just a lens through which we will be able to see life or what is happening, but it is going to be a reality of God giving to His people a nature. In that nature, the uniqueness of sight will be commonplace.
Our Father, Abraham, carved out a prophetic nature by his walk, and that nature was a function of the understanding of what he had received and how he responded. His response began to culture him differently, and it made him become an heir of a kind of faith that became a standard through which God could reach man again in the face of the earth. This shows how we respond to what is spoken in this season is very pivotal to embodying the true prophetic nature.
Prophets birth conversations, nature, and character. They bring forth lifestyle, nature, and activities. When we see God talking to us in these times about the prophetic nature, there is a kind of lifestyle or character that He wants to give to us. God is raising, in this season, a people who will live and be born into a new reality, which will birth us into a true walk with Him, and we will live a true victorious life.
The prophetic nature has tangible expressions. Looking at our father Abraham, we can see some prophetic reflections in his choices. He was so aware of the spirit that he saw strangers, and he could tell that they were not ordinary men. He could run out and convince them to stay, and he made them food. He had the ability to perceive clearly (Gen 18:2-5). It was more than Abraham being hospitable, he had an awareness. We need to be aware in our spirit. This is how we will recognize the moments when God wants to move.
As we yield to the prophetic nature, our ability to discern heightens. If our father Abraham, with only a small measure of what he had, demonstrated a dimension of the prophetic nature, then we have the capacity to fully hold the reality of the nature that truly resides in God.
The prophetic nature has the ability to identify and understand the divine. Our ability to come into this understanding grows as we grow in our relationship with God. We cannot come into this understanding in one instance. But as we keep walking and obeying, the understanding of the divine dawns on us.
As believers, we need to be trained in the life of the spirit; we need to develop a capacity and an awareness of spontaneous responses that God requires us to make at the right time, at split seconds, or on the spur of the moment. We should possess a blend of understanding and the capacity to respond to God swiftly. We need to be very aware in our spirit.
To fully come into our potential and harness the resources of God, we also need to get a clarity of the blueprint. We should possess a systematic understanding of the knowledge of God. This can be learned layer upon layer and thought upon thought, until it is properly developed.
Isaiah 28:9-10
“Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little…”
A prophetic nature is not just about sitting and reading the Bible, it is an intelligence of the things of God. It is having the knowledge and nature that can respond promptly to God. We should possess a blend of understanding and capacity to swiftly respond to God. We need to be very aware in our spirit.
The blessing of the prophetic in our company is that a people will walk with so much strength of sight for the invisible (Col. 3:1 – 2). We will grow in grace to seek and see things that pertain to the kingdom.
The swift movement of God can be seen by the workings of nature. Prophetic nature helps us to be discerning. We should discern seasons, servants of God, and gifts of Christ that He brings to us. If we are not discerning in this season, then we are not engaging enough.
After the angel had blessed Sarah, some believers may believe that is the end of the experience. But Abraham, due to being fluid, was able to capture a moment of what God wanted to do in Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham was able to see that there was more, after the blessing of Sarah by the angels (Genesis 18).
We should be able to tell when we have not exhausted a grace that is available in a season. We should be always aware, like Abraham who took on the selfless position of engaging actively and interceding on behalf of the people in Sodom and Gomorrah. This helped Lot escape destruction.
The prophetic nature will truly birth a capacity to fully envision and take ownership of the world to come. The world to come will be a reality in our midst through our growth in the prophetic nature. It would not just be a thought that is hanging over our head, but we will receive the strength to hasten unto it.
We need to be aware in our spirit; this is how we will recognize the moments when God wants to move. Sometimes, the activities of God on the face of the earth are beyond us and beyond our knowledge. The prophetic entails trapping and recognizing patterns that God uses to carry out certain things on the earth.
We discern by how we respond in expectation and obedience to God, and also in honoring and blessing God’s servants with our natural substances. These discernments are true natures that should flow effortlessly from a heart that has imbibed the prophetic grace, so that seamlessly, we can connect with God’s workings.
We will not hear the revelations and automatically become them. God has to demand some obediences from us, and they can be tailored to us individually, such that the next person may not understand what God demands of us. And our response to it will make us custodians of this life. We need to be very discerning, not spooky, but knowing how to respond to God, and discern moments God will bring our way.
How we respond, the state of our heart, and what comes out of our heart determine how we will benefit from the season.
Living by this prophetic life will truly make us partakers of His holiness. Holiness is a kind of spiritual energy that you acquire; it is not merely a decision. There is a revelation of holiness that you respond to in obedience, and there is also an energy of obedience that lifts you to a different potential, a different level of participation, and a place of separation.
Everything God has been doing in your life is a build-up toward having that true prophetic nature. You will not suddenly become prophetic by accident. Let us trust God that we will continue journeying and responding to Him, even in this year.
Blessings!
