Programme: Anamnesis 2022 Day 3 Evening Session

Date: Friday, 9th December 2022

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits…” (Ps. 103:2). To “forget not” is to remember. This is Anamnesis, so we are to remember all the Lord’s benefits. This is a meeting of remembering the Lord on the account of eating and drinking (1 Cor. 11:24-25). It is a holy convocation to remember.

“Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.” (Psa. 103:3-5). To “forget not” is an action word. We should remember all the benefits of the Lord. The present Church has trivialized those benefits by limiting them to material things. However, the benefits in this scripture have nothing to do with the ephemeral. The word “benefit” refers to reward and recompense. The Lord wants us to remember the dealing of His hands in our lives and in remembering it, something happens.

The need of God is a house, a dwelling place (Isa. 66:1). This project has to do with getting a place of rest for Himself. Anything short of that is not on the list of benefits. His benefits have nothing to do with the natural, but rather, are tied to His project of rest. The rest He gives is to deal with the restlessness in the souls of men. When our souls rest, God rests (Matt. 11:28-29). As long as there is an agitation in our souls, God will not rest.

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.” (Psa. 9:17-18). There is a generation that is doing all its best to make man forget God. Science and technology are doing everything to get man to a point where he will forget God. However, the essence of this meeting is to bring to our remembrance the project of God. Man has a profession which is to know God. There is no other curriculum that man needs to learn but God. It is not “God and anything”, rather, it is God and God alone. Our vocation or calling is to arrive at God.

Adam was not a complete product when he was created; he was meant to finish the work, which required him to eat and drink (by teachings) in order to know God and come into God's class, but he fell short. All that man is doing through Satan is to reverse that process and delete God from man’s remembrance. When man fell, not only was the project incomplete but a venom was injected into us. That venom cannot be expelled from us by just taking one dose of the medicine called God; we need to keep coming to Church for God.

The Church has been limited to a building where people go, but in reality, the Church is a place where we come to learn the life of God. It is not possible to receive all of God at once, for one has to keep drinking of His life continually. The reason for Anamnesis is to remind ourselves that we need to keep drinking of God’s life.

Our adversary is called the “great red dragon” (Rev. 12:3); he is equipped with high darkness. As such, we cannot overcome him by eating and drinking at once, rather, eating and drinking have to become a lifestyle till all of Satan's deposits in us are expunged. God’s dealing in our lives is to bring us to a place where we are without spot, blame and we are exactly like Him. This process is possible when we continually take different doses of God.

“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” (Jam. 1:25). This blessing is not the benefit of mundane things. This is the man that God will complete His work in him. This man has God in his remembrance; he is not a forgetful hearer and is a doer of the work. This is a call to a people that will come to God to abandon themselves in His hands, both to will and do of His own good pleasure (Philipp. 2:13).

There is a work that God is doing in us and that is the benefit. It is a call to a work for those that will allow God to work on them; a people that will be still and know that He is God (Psa. 46:10). God is looking for a people that will come to rest – a people that will come and lie on the table and let God operate on them and finish the work. Those who will allow God to complete His work in them are those who will not be agitated by natural things and attractions in this present world.

“If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.” (1 Tim. 4:6). A good minister keeps the brethren in  remembrance of this need of God. In this ship, we have a captain, and this captain that God has raised and has given to us has the word for this last hour of the world.

We must discern the covering God has provided for us, for it is our safety. As much as we can, let us give stronger support to our spiritual parents. If there is any time that the devil wants to destabilize the Church, it is now, but anyone that has this covering is safe and we have one. Ministers in particular need to fortify this covering by giving more strength to our spiritual parents. There is an evil that is coming upon the world but the Church is our safety. There is an onslaught of the enemy coming this season, but one who is able to stay under the covering of our spiritual parents will be safe.

Blessings!
