1. “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.” (Jer. 1:10). Dominion in its true sense – as it is in the heart of the Lord – can only be appreciated by people who are spiritual. There are many wrong dominions we can pursue in our lifetime; this is why we often fail to place a premium on the dominion for which man was created (Gen. 1:26). Dominion is the thought of the beginning; it is the manifestation of the creation of God. After the fall in Eden, man lost comprehension of the true dominion and fell into another dominion. The fall of man brought another atmosphere over his heavens and taught him errant definitions of dominion.
2. One sign of spirituality is the ability to comprehend dominion. The Lord is restoring our sense of dominion as it was in the heart of Jesus while He was on earth. Dominion is the intent behind the creation of man and the incursion of Satan could not disrupt this agenda. The agenda predated the fall, therefore, the fall could not outdo that intent (2 Tim. 1:9; Tit. 1:2). We were born again and have been brought into knowledge in order to have the intent of dominion restored to us. Dominion is the end of our pursuit on this path (of life). If we do not receive dominion, then we have not accomplished the mission of heaven.
3. Our Lord Jesus knows how to break down images formed under a wrong dominion. He knows how to come into our souls to root out various issues that are summed up as images. Satan continually has a foothold in us because we carry images that were formed under the atmosphere of a wrong dominion. As long as we are subservient to the images of Satan, we would remain under his dominion. But by reason of the things/substances which Jesus gives, the dominion (images) of Satan in us will be rooted out.
4. The images that men carry are made visible by reason of their hope. Every hope is an eye for the glory of an image. As long as our hopes are not the hope of His calling (Eph. 1:18), we still have images in us that need to be rooted out and pulled down. Images are being sustained by our soul energy; this is why it takes a painstaking process to take them out. These images have no allegiance to God, and they must be knocked down because they stand in the way of seeing the Lord. Our inability to see the 'appearing' of the Lord is as a result of an image. The aim of those images is to allow worldliness to run its full course in a soul in order to raise a standard against the coming of the Lord.
5. Flesh is a program of the enemy and negative spirits to reconfigure the soul and make it a better recipient of the signals of hell and death. When our souls have been reconfigured by the power of God, it further appreciates the coming of the Lord. The highest form of dominion that God is calling us into is the fullest expression of life. Also, death in its highest form of expression is a dominion. This means our warfare is dominion versus dominion. Satan sought to have dominion over all that God created, but dominion belongs to the Lord.
6. The Lord is rewinding formations and raising us to the point where we would love life and be made able to rejoice in the face of tribulation, just as Jesus went to the lowest depths so He could get to the highest heights of life and sit triumphantly—defining the pattern for us. Jesus' image needs to be formed in our souls, for us to be raised as we should. A spiritual man is one who can love Jesus’ coming and embrace the death that is associated with it. We are in a season where we ought to prepare our hearts because the Lord is coming to judge images that stand against our love for His 'appearing' (2 Tim. 4:8).
