To whom much is given, much is expected. God has given us so much that we cannot afford to fail Him. What we have here is not common. There is barely any stream that is as rich and deep as this, and the content is not polluted. We have every reason at every time to keep yearning for Christ; we keep following as He is being declared to us.
The essence of man on earth is to do commandments (Ecc. 12:13). There is no man that is without commandments. Even those who are outside the faith are obeying a kind of commandment. Our joy is that we have a better commandment that we are obeying; let us keep doing it. It is not easy to do commandments; it may be painful and boring but we must do it. Jesus did it.
When Jesus asked if it was possible for that cup to pass over Him (Matthew 26:39), He was at a point of decision making. At that point, He could have said, “The cup is bitter, the burden is heavy, and I can’t bear it.” There is a lesser burden, but He chose this one and said, nevertheless, not My will. Before you can get to this “nevertheless”, you must have journeyed.
For Jesus to have said nevertheless, it means He had options, but He chose that of God. Whatever you lose now, you will regain it later. But when you retain it, it will be lost (Matt. 16:25). Go with this mind saying, “nevertheless!”; though to die to the flesh is hard, “nevertheless!”; though to yield to the spirit per time would cost your position and fame, “nevertheless!”; because whatever you lose now would be gained later. “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” (John 12:25).
God cannot gather a large number of people on this mountain for 7 days, and we would pray and nothing would happen. If it will take God to uproot some people, they would be uprooted. Whatever is happening in Nigeria is an attack and an onslaught against the Church. But we have been sleeping and snoring for a long time; the enemy knows we are not united which is why he has been taking advantage of us. But as many of us here will agree, “we would stop them.” Amen!
