Coming into the Promised Land

God is running an eternal programme and in doing so, He has no respect for persons (Jam. 2:9). Blessed is the generation that would hear the joyful sound; and we thank God who has appointed us as the generation that will hear this joyful sound. One thing about this season is that the Lord has raised higher, the bar of the commandments He has given us. As we keep some levels of commandments, the Lord raises them higher for us to keep. This is how the Lord raises us into higher levels.

We have come to a crucial time and season in our spiritual journey. This crucial time is particularly for us as a company and also generally for the body of Christ. This is a season where nothing will remain the same. Things have changed greatly in the realm of the spirit and the effect of this change is seen, even in the natural. This is the appointed time for certain things that have been spoken of to begin to take place.

The entire Church consists of communities and not all communities are the same. In the book of Revelation, each of those Churches were communities (Rev. 1:11). The things the Lord says to the Church are from a high octave; they are sayings that are everlasting and eternal. No community (church) journeys in the spirit without sayings. This season is a critical time for us as a community and also for the Church at large. This is so because everything must be gathered under the Son of God (Eph. 1:10).

There is a land the Lord wants to bring the Church into. We have received reports concerning the everlasting land and we must believe that this land exists. The journey of our souls to the level of Christ is not our destination, even as the wilderness was not the destination of the Israelites. This is because a man can eat Christ and yet die. This death is not physical; it is a perishing of the soul. If a man who has eaten of Christ can perish, how much more those who have not eaten of Him at all?

All the provisions that the Lord gave the Israelites in the wilderness constitute the provisions of Christ, but many of them were overthrown in the wilderness. To be overthrown means there was something that was able to catch up with them. While they were in the wilderness, corruption was still at work in them and it succeeded in many of them. Hence, the safety was to cross Jordan.

“But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.” (1 Cor. 10:5). To be well pleased meant that some of them may have been tried in the wilderness (Christ) but did not attain a well pleasing state unto God. The season of Christ is the season of reproving and training a heart to receive what is being said. The ability to cross Jordan is dependent on how the heart receives what is being said.

“Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?” (Isa. 53:1). The arm of the Lord is an everlasting arm. The Lord will not reveal the everlasting arm if we do not first believe the report. The season of Christ is the season of training hearts. Going into the promised land is going into the rest of God; but the children of Israel could not cross into the promised land because of unbelief (Heb. 3:12).

An unbelieving heart is an evil heart (Heb. 3:12). A heart that obeys the doctrine of Christ and does not come to the point of loving out of a pure heart will yet remain in unbelief. A heart that finds it difficult to walk in love is one plagued with unbelief. The season of Christ is to train the heart to a point where unbelief is completely removed from it. Unbelief is what makes us question what is being said to us.

To be overthrown means that the law of perishing caught up with them. Christ, the new man is pure but is not incorruptible. This is evidenced by the fact that the new man (Christ) can be killed; corruption can catch up with Him. We are Christ in our spirits when we receive Him at the New Birth. Although, one who has become Christ is pure, yet he is not incorruptible; he can be killed. This is because the being that is corruption personified is not a “christ” but a “god” (2 Cor. 4:4).

The Lord wants us to have a kind of heart this season. There are many things we do not know would disqualify us but He knows them and wants to deliver us from them. The devil is a high spirit that knows how to fall a man and this is to disqualify us in the sight of God.

The essence of the spiritual drink and spiritual meat (1 Cor. 10:4) is to make us behave like spirits. We need to become spirits because Satan, whom we are warring against is not a man but a spirit. The adversary is skillful and knows what can disqualify us. The children of Israel all ate manna and drank water from the rock, yet, many of them were disqualified.

“Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.” (1 Cor. 10:6). Evil things here do not refer to the works of the flesh. The definition of evil differs based on one’s realm in the spirit. What is defined as evil in the Holy Place is different from that of the Outer Court. We cannot afford to stop eating now, for we must keep eating until we are perfect and entire, lacking nothing in Christ (Jam. 1:4). It is an evil thing not to eat Christ completely.

“Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” (1 Cor. 10:7). The kind of idolatry that the Church in the wilderness committed was different from that of the heathen nations. Idolatry consists of things that can make one disqualified from crossing through Jordan. An idol is anything that sits in the heart, which is where God ought to sit; it is also anything that will prevent you from seeking and loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and might (Deut. 6:5).

“Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.” (1 Cor. 10:8). Fornication here also means adultery which is to mix up things. One of the things the Lord is doing in our midst is to cleanse us from every impurity. Some messages that come from the pulpit also contain impurities and that is fornication.

Fornication is a doctrine that would not make a soul a chaste virgin, espoused to the Lord alone (2 Cor. 11:2). Thus, as we appreciate in light, the Lord removes any message that makes us fall short of being chaste virgins or makes people commit fornication.

Manna is the only thing allowed in the wilderness, for anything else will bring leanness to the soul. When a soul is perishing, it is engaging in fornication. There are certain messages or knowledge that the soul can be exposed to that will cause it to commit fornication. The world thinks it is advancing and evolving and in the process, puts the word of God aside, not knowing that it is actually degenerating.

Every soul has the tendency to commit fornication. Godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Tim. 6:6). A soul that has not learnt contentment will commit spiritual fornication.

“Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.” (1 Cor. 10:9). When you are in the season of Christ, do not tempt Him. When you stand on that rock that is Christ, do not question His ability to keep you. Do not turn the blood of the Son of God into something unholy.

“Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice.” (Num. 14:22). If not for mercy, many of us are guilty of tempting the Lord several times, most likely over ten times. Some question the ability of the word of righteousness to meet their natural needs, thereby, tempting Christ.

“Do all things without murmurings and disputings: [15] That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” (Philipp. 2:14-15). “All things” here refers to all things Christ. This Church was a Church that was learning about Christ. Disputings refers to raising arguments and reasonings. When we murmur, we are guilty before God. When we are in the season of Christ, we are not permitted to doubt. Murmuring brings blame upon us while disputing makes us harmful. Disputings bring up arguments. As such, we ought to flee when men bring arguments to us because they are followed by evil thoughts.

The devil wants to bring us to a state where we murmur and dispute and he does so by feeding our hearts and minds with arguments. However, God wants us to be blameless and harmless (Philipp. 2:15).

God has brought us as a company to a place where He wants us to cross from the wilderness through Jordan into the promised land. This is why we have been hearing reports of these lands. These reports come to us as doctrines and we will still hear more.

“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.” (John 6:32). Although, the children of Israel ate manna, which is bread in the wilderness, that is not the bread of God. The doctrine of everlasting life and Eternal Life are both expressed as bread. There are levels of bread: the bread of life, the living bread and the true bread. The true bread gives understanding of the true God.

We are in the season of eating bread. Bread is doctrine; it refers to the sayings of God. We must not doubt these sayings in this season. We have to eat, even when we do not understand what we are eating. We must eat so we can have energy. The children of Israel did not understand manna when they were given (Exo. 16:15). However, as we continue eating it, we will understand. We will understand all the intricacies of the wilderness experience as we eat.

We must eat all that is presented to us in this season. We need all the strength necessary for us to cross into Jordan, for this is God’s intention for us as a people.
