The reason John wrote the First Epistle of John was to deal with the sin of the beginning (1 John 1:1-3). This is the sin that originated from a realm in creation called the 'beginning’. The beginning refers to the realm where God began creation. The angel Lucifer, who became the devil, was among the angels of the beginning. The angels of the beginning are the angels of the Most Holy and are the first creations of God. God made the Most Holy Place before He made the Holy Place, the Outer Court and then the earth.

Cherubims are also called sons of the morning or sons of the beginning. All cherubims are beings of the beginning. They are high ministering spirits of the beginning. However, one beginning ministering spirit went bad: he turned his beginning essence and corrupted his beginning laws. For the first time in creation, something that was alien — different from what God created in the heavens — was born. That thing was born because of what this ministering spirit was thinking.

Lucifer’s problem began when he began to think outside the curriculum that a cherub should think (Eze. 28:16-17). Hence, he could only perform the action of sin because his inside was already twisted. God, not only made the earth and its inhabitants, but He also defined their boundaries of thinking. He put boundaries for the thoughts of cherubims and those boundaries define the operation of the life that they are to live by. Those boundaries are to keep them within the sphere of their lives. As long as they stayed within the sphere of those thoughts, they would be worshipping God, not breaking the laws of the service.

When God made man in Genesis, He blessed Adam with the thoughts that he was meant to think and these thoughts made his soul begin to live (Gen. 1:28, 2:7). Anytime a creation of God begins to think outside of his boundary, that creation has offended. God would know that such a being should not be having such thoughts that are outside of his boundaries.

One strength of cherubims is the multitude of thoughts they can handle (Eze. 28:16). They are designed to handle a multitude of thoughts. However, Lucifer began to break the laws of thinking and this eventually caused him to sin. Part of the symptoms of breaking the laws of thinking was that he wanted to be like the Most High. He wanted to break into another sphere of thoughts that was exclusively for the Most High.

God, in love, always puts thought barriers for His creatures. Thought barriers can be likened to doctrine. Angels have a better sense of doctrine than man. Angels know their own scriptures and doctrines. God measures their boundaries of thinking by doctrine. Angels, in different cadres, have their doctrines. It is out of these doctrines that they worship God. Seraphims cannot worship in the way that cherubims are meant to. Similarly, God will not accept worship from an angel that has broken its thought barrier.

What went wrong with Lucifer was what the epistle of John is meant to deal with. Anyone who commits sin is of the devil (1 John 3:8). We may not be able to discern this level of sin or even applaud a person who commits this kind of sin. These are sins that we cannot relate with. They are sins of the tabernacle, sins in the realms of holiness. The Lord wants to show us the sins of the beginning. When the truths of the beginning are being proclaimed, we would begin to come into an awareness of what the sins of the beginning are.

Our judgement of sin at a level is according to our light at that level. Our comprehension of sin is according to the level of our growth. When John wrote about the things of the beginning, it was because so much benevolence was shown towards the Church. He wanted to reveal sin to the Church through His light. Without revealing sin, we will not be free from the sins of the beginning.

Satan neither committed fornication nor did he lie in heaven. Lucifer’s sin was pertaining to authority. One of the quickest ways to die spiritually is to fight against authority. An obvious thing that Satan did was that he wanted to be like God (Isa. 14:14). That seed of the sin of the beginning, which Satan has, is in every human. This is why we all have an innate urge to usurp authority.

We are a company of ministers — young people who have ministerial destinies. As we are entering into zones of a multitude of revelation and understanding, we need to be more careful with light. We need to be able to keep our mouths even if we have a new understanding. It is not everything we know that we have to say; we need to learn wisdom. If we speak from grounds that we are not authorised for, we would be calling for the warfare of such grounds.

Blessings!
