Text: 1 Peter 1:9
We are not meant to teach the visitations of Angels as doctrines. They are Spirit-granted experiences that should not be sought nor taught as a doctrine. The doctrines of the new testament are Christ and God. You cannot have the doctrine of eternal life without the doctrine of the Father and the Son (2 John 1:9). Doctrine defines manner of life and purpose (2 Tim. 3:10).
Peter began to say a lot of things about the end of the faith which has to do with matters of salvation. Peter’s admonition was to prepare the Church about things that are needed for the receiving of the end of their faith (1 Peter 1: 9).
(1 Peter 1:2) This church was not just called but had moved to being an elect, they have been chosen out of those who are called. They came into their election through sanctification of the spirit and obedience of the faith. They have used Truth as life, Christ and God are Truth. The Spirit uses truth to remove things that make the soul not to be acceptable before God. They moved from sanctification to obedience, these are all doctrines.
Our Lord Jesus was raised for thirty years before He was approved at Jordan (Mark. 1:11). In Hebrews He had fulfilled the obedience (Hebrews 5:8), but He saw another demand of God. As at Jordan, Jesus could have left the earth and gone to heaven. Heaven had to guide Jesus’ on earth. God and the Holy Ghost supervised Jesus’ journey on earth even down to choosing his earthly parents. All these were done to keep the seed that was in Him from dying. The demand on Jesus was high, He was not permitted to marry nor have children. He was raised as a Lamb to be offered. Jesus lived a life of obedience and sacrifice (Ephesians 5:2).
Jesus lived His life to do God’s will (Hebrews 10:7). He lived His life singularly to please God such that at Jordan, He was acceptable to God, but He still had to receive something from God which is glory. Glory is not just shining but to receive things from God. Jesus was referring to resurrection when He told Martha she shall see the glory of God (John 11:40). Resurrection was announcing something in the spirit.
To see is to understand and come into a place of having knowledge being imparted. Peter began talking about Jesus that Jesus received from God honour and Glory (2 Peter 2:17). Receiving the end of the faith brings the soul to partake in a series of resurrection experiences which is the glory of God. Coming short of God’s glory is to die, to come back to the glory of God is to be raised. The matters of the end of the faith is seeing the glory of God which is the resurrection of the dead unto life eternal.
Jesus being the brightness of God’s glory is that Jesus partook of things of eternal salvation. What makes God are materials of glory which are things of salvation. Resurrection is salvation of the soul, when a soul has been raised above every design of death. Death is the ability of a man to turn. Resurrection of the dead is not just being raised into life but to be raised beyond the reach of death. Death has roots that can get into Christ. There are secret works that are not easily found out in Christ, it takes seeing the good and perfect light to see the tentacles of death in Christ. Jesus Christ could have kept His life, but it took judgement for Him to see there is something for Him to receive (Matt. 26:39).
(Rev 12:11) The overcomers are not lovers of this present world, there is a life they have inherited that they have to lay down. When we lay down our lives, we are gaining life. A carnal man cannot lay down his life. Jesus came to a state where He did not love His life unto the death. The life Jesus did not love was the life He acquired for thirty-three years here on earth. There is a manner of receiving the end of our faith, we have to receive with meekness (James 1:21).
