Transcript Summary
1. It is not an ordinary thing to take a man from the state of a natural man to a state where he becomes a spiritual man (1 Cor. 2:14); such a man must learn the Spirit. We begin learning the Spirit from the milk of the word in order to transition into the world of the supernatural. The seal of the Holy Ghost heaves us up to the realm of the supernatural through the learning of the way of the Holy Ghost; this is not achieved by human strength but by the training of faith and love.
2. The intention of the Lord in giving us the gift of infilling and baptism of the Holy Ghost is to make us become like God. God is a Spirit (John 4:24), so we must become a spirit to serve a Spirit. Sin and death have designed and rendered man to be flesh. Man started as a living soul, not as flesh. It took the training of ways and the departure from the presence of God for men to be resident under the operation of Satan (1 John 3:8). The operation of a high fallen angel (Satan) and his spirits – principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places – is what trains the soul and configures the thoughts of man to be wicked continually (Gen. 6:6; Eph. 6:12).
3. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24). The intention of God (who is a Spirit) is for man to worship Him in spirit and in truth. However, there is a substance that should be used to worship or serve God. At various intervals, “things” were being given to John (Rev. 1:1) to raise a stature in him; this also raised in him the spirit of prophecy with which he could worship God (Rev. 19:10).
4. The Holy Ghost was given to us because we were in a natural and fleshy state – the state in which we cannot receive the things of God because they are foolishness to us (1 Cor. 2:14). However, a man can be filled with the Holy Ghost, have the gifts and other manifestations of the Holy Ghost and is yet to receive the seal of the Holy Ghost. The seal of the Holy Ghost is the name of the Holy Ghost that is written upon the soul by the giving of commandments in order to culture the spirit of faith and love for all the saints in a believer (Eph. 1:15).
5. Commandments are spirits, and they are designed for us to marry the spirit that is commanding us. Lust is a commandment and a spirit; it is a manner of life. Lust is acquired when it commands us and we do its bidding. The natures in our souls are being run by commandments. When we exercise obedience to a commandment, we acquire its spirit or life.
6. The name which the Holy Ghost bears is the name of the Lord Jesus. This name of the Holy Ghost is the name of Jesus which is used in training a man who is flesh. The infilling of the Holy Ghost is not just for speaking in tongues or manifestations of the Spirit alone; the Holy Ghost is the earnest of the inheritance and every inheritance has a work (Eph. 1:14). The Holy Ghost is a gift and for Him to be the earnest inheritance is the seal. Many people have the Holy Ghost inside of them but have not received the work of the Holy Ghost. It is when we receive and do the work of the Holy Ghost that we can say we have partaken of the inheritance that is in Him.
7. One of the manifestations of a supernatural life is repentance from dead works (Heb. 6:1); it is a level of judgment that rests on our conscience. There are a lot of Christians today who listen to some music they ought not to, maintain some friendships they ought not to and nothing in their conscience is warring or checking them. Such believers are born again and speak in tongues but retain the ways that should be done away with, despite being quickened from the dead.
8. The Holy Ghost came to dwell in us for the purpose of the inheritance. We need the Holy Ghost to be able to receive spirits. The Godhead gave Him as a token because we are going to continue receiving spirits; He will help us to receive the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit of God.
9. God wanted the nation of Israel to walk with Him, so He chose Moses. The intention of God was for Moses to walk with an angel who has the name of God (Exo. 23:20-21). The law to be committed to Moses was held by an angel, and God knew that Moses would not be able to work with the angel (who is a spirit) if he was not helped. God used forty years to train Moses to be able to receive the angel. Moses had to follow God in order to work with the angel who is a spirit. This was needed because the law that Moses was supposed to take from the angel was spiritual and had an everlasting covenant in it.
10. Moses was trained to a measure of Christ to be able to receive the ministry of the angel who is an everlasting being. As he kept yielding to the Lord, choosing to suffer affliction rather than enjoy the pleasures of Egypt (Heb. 11:24-28), he got to a point where the angel could appear to him. The first time the angel appeared to him was at the site of the burning bush. It was from that point that the angel was ready to work with Moses. The angel was meant to work with Moses from the beginning, but Moses was not ready to join forces with the angel; that was why God took him through the training of 40 years to prepare him.
11. The high calling of God upon the life of a man is to worship/serve God. The name of the Eternal God is the promise of Eternal Life. Moses had to be beaten to shape to be able to join forces with the angel who carried the name of the Lord. One of the essence of the milk of the word and the teaching of Christ is to make us spiritual. The soul that will be able to receive the things of great importance or majestic things must be spiritual. A man who has not graduated in learning the ways of the Spirit cannot acquire them.
12. Moses acquired meekness before he could walk with the angel. We have to acquire Christ – obey faith, hope and embody the person of charity (1 Cor. 13:13). Charity is the person of Christ, and this is necessary for us to be able to receive the great and majestic things which are things of the world to come. God wants to raise brethren who have the Spirit of prophecy and can worship God.
13. Like Moses went to tell Pharaoh to let Israel go so that they might worship God (Exo. 5:1), it is an advantage to have someone ahead of us. Followership is not a disadvantage; it is a good thing. Moses could not enter the land, but those who followed him, as he was following the angel, were able to enter the promised land. It was said of those men who followed Moses that they had another spirit; this was as a result of the manner in which they followed Moses (Num. 14:24).
14. “Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God” (Josh. 14:8). Out of the twelve men who went to spy the promised land, only two (Joshua and Caleb) brought a different report from the rest because of how they positioned their hearts. That training must have started from Goshen; things must have happened to them in a progression during that journey for their hearts to find help. The ten men who brought evil reports were all having evil hearts. This is why the scriptures admonish us not to have an evil heart (Heb. 3:12); we must address our hearts. The ten men brought the things that were in their hearts, but Caleb and Joshua had undertaken the training of the heart from Goshen to be able to give a good report.
15. The season of hearing everlasting things is a season when we must not be dissuaded. Although some might not believe, we must be able to stand strong in our persuasion. The reason Caleb and Joshua could not persuade the others who gave an evil report was because it had been a thing of their hearts for many years. Commandments had been coming since they were in Goshen but they were not transacting with it. “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.” (Matt. 12:35). Evil reports came from those men because of the evil treasures that were still present in them. Those treasures were the treasures of Egypt that Moses denied.
16. We need to cleanse ourselves from the filth of this world; this is why we must be under the dealings of faith that subject us to be tried. It is good that we are being converted from flesh to stone. After we have been converted, we must be tried to become a newborn babe. The essence of trials is to become a tried stone that can become precious. When David was tried, he cried to God to expunge wicked ways from him. He knew that if those things were still there, evil spirits would still be incubating him (Ps. 139:23). One who is being incubated by evil spirits has the potential to receive lies and make a covenant with falsehood – the evil promises from Satan.
17. We must be purged. The ten spies (Num. 13:1-33) were not being judged/purified; they kept their darkness and it journeyed with them. When men journey with darkness, they do not remain the same. A journey with darkness changes installations/configurations in men. Even as light is increasing, we must disobey contrary arrangements and formation in us. This world must be expunged from us. We must keep the commandments of faith to the end (1 John. 5:4).
