"And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." (Matt. 16:16). It is easy to conclude on the surface that "the Christ" and "the Son of the living God" are the same; but they are actually different. However, it may not be easy to discern between both at the level of the milk of the word of God.
When God created man and breathed into Him, He put the capacity of an earthly everlasting strength in him. The quality of life of angels and man are determined by the quality of breath that God put in them. The man that was created in Eden (Adam) was already a type of Christ but God put the breath of the living soul in him, so that he could continue to the point of taking things eternal from the everlasting realm. There are things everlasting that have both earthly and heavenly versions. However, what God really wants to give man is Eternal life.
The learning of Christ is the learning of a man, but God is not a man. He can only step down to the realm of things everlasting. His actual intention is to give man His things, which would make him become an everlasting being. However, Adam fell from the original intent of God when He ate of a god-tree (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil). To redeem man, God was therefore made flesh (Jesus), put in Mary’s womb and was born as a man.
God created man differently from how He created angels, for angels cannot increase the quality of life that they have. Angels in the outer court express a life that is called ‘life’ or Christ in a measure. The Holy Place angels can only demonstrate the life of peace. They cannot grow to become cherubims. Similarly, cherubims cannot become God (as in the person of the Creator).
When God created man however, He made Him with a a soul that can trap different qualities of life, even beyond the realm of man. The things of the everlasting order that God put in man (Adam) at creation made him a living soul or an everlasting man. As such, he could understand things everlasting.
There is a gospel called the gospel of Christ and another called the gospel of the Everlasting God. There is only one mighty mystery, but within it are mysteries. Our Lord Jesus is an embodiment of all mysteries: the mystery of Christ, the mystery of the Father, and the mystery of God. We cannot learn the mystery of God if we do not know the mystery of The Father. We can also not know the mystery of the Father without learning the mystery of Christ. It is the mystery of the Father that makes us come into salvation.
Apostle Peter admonished the people to whom he wrote his second letter to add some things to their faith (2 Pet. 1:5-8). By so doing, an entrance was going to be ministered unto them (2 Pet. 1:11). They were a community that had learnt and used Christ; they were a faith people. However, there was another gospel that they needed to hear. Christ’s gospel will make one into a spiritual man, who will do things that are right according to the gospel everlasting.
The living gospel is meant to bring about the righteousness that is everlasting. The words we are hearing are not just things that excite us but things that also measure out standards of righteousness that are everlasting to us.
Sins that are everlasting in strength are sins that are around the throne. As one comes near the throne, such tendencies are aroused. We all have negative everlasting strengths that are dormant within us. However, they will not show forth until we have been brought into the atmospheres that will awaken them. That is when we will begin to see evil everlasting thoughts arise.
Thoughts around name and face are dealt with in the realm of everlasting things. As such, men would often react out of wrong everlasting natures when their names are despised. However, a man like Jesus does not have the capacity to feel bad when His name is despised because the everlasting darkness that brings about that gloomy feeling is not in Him.
There are natures that are everlastingly negative, and we must be rid of them. We have come to seasons when God will deal with everlasting things. A time is also coming when our company will be too holy, for this nature will be a reality within us.
