Ministering: Rev. (Mrs.) Helen Oyegoke
All nations need healing due to the degradation in the quality of life they all came into after the fall of man (Gen. 3). All men died and the result of death is separation from the life of God. This is what leads to disintegration and corruption in the soul. There are substances in the soul that inspire corruption in the body. Through sin, man became corruptible and a wrong configuration was inputted in his soul. Our disease is the wrong configuration which came as a result of death and blindness.
Satan is an expert in making man see what he should not see. When Satan wants to kill a man, he makes the man focus on the wrong thing. He did it to Jesus: Satan showed Jesus the glories of the whole world in a moment (Matt. 4:8); but Jesus was focused. God had opened His eyes and ears to see the right thing and hear the right thing before He was tempted. Satan could not get Him because He was always looking up to see what the Father was doing.
In the beginning, man did not die fully; there was still life in his soul but Satan created a program of walk to kill that life in the soul. The course of this world is not an ordinary course; it was crafted by a Spirit (Eph. 2:2). Satan is a being destined for the lake of fire and he wants to infest man with the death in him so that man would no longer connect God. Though the spirit, man died in Eden; but God could still lead men like Abraham through their souls. By leading and instructions, God raised prophets who could connect God and speak His word.
The help that is coming to us now is the help of life and Satan does not want any man to look to God for help. The solution to man’s problem of death is life. Death in the spirit is healed by the quickening of the spirit at New Birth.
There are different levels of death of the soul – great death and small death. Every level of death has its own solution. Life is the solution to death. What brought about death in the spirit of man was disobedience; death in the soul is an aftermath of learning disobedience. Man gradually became blind and could not relate with the life of God again.
“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind…” (Eph. 4:17) A vain mind is a diseased mind. What is responsible for vanity is darkened understanding -- when understanding is darkened, the mind will be vain. The devil did that work. The Bible calls him the anointed Cherub that covereth (Eze. 28:14). He covereth and so he worked blindness in the heart of man over the years. The darkness did not start with us; it started thousands of generations before us. We were born into blindness. Man is sick because of blindness.
“Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart…” (Eph. 4:18) Blindness of the heart produces a vain mind. Gentiles live after the vanity of their mind because of the ignorance in them. The course of this world thrives under ignorance and blindness of the heart; it is a deliberate action by Satan so that men would walk and be further blinded. When God wants to bring healing, the first thing He does is open eyes. When eyes are opened, conversation will change. Healing would begin to occur as conversation changes.
God wants to heal the wrong nature that was learnt by a former conversation. A path was created for man to walk in so that a wrong nature can be formed; this formation is the disease in the soul. We came about it by walking in a path brought about by a prince who comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). When God wants to heal, He begins by blessing one with sight by feeding (the revelation of Jesus Christ).
Someone can be born again and still have the formation of Satan intact in his soul. The soul inherited some configurations. At New Birth, the configuration remains the same. For us to be healed from such configuration, we need to be fed; healing can only come by feeding. When the eyes are open, we would see laws that would help us change state and formation.
"And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. [2] I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. [3] For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?" (1 Cor. 3:1-3) Envy, strife, divisions are symptoms of the disease man has in his soul. Our disease is as a result of our state and configuration; they manifest in different ways. When God wants to heal our lack of stature, God raises us. God does not want us to walk as mere men; rather, He wants us to walk as spiritual.
When we are envious of the prosperity of our brother, it means we are sick. We need to grow and growth is given by feeding. Paul was desiring growth from the church, so he fed them. The milk of the word would provide a measure of immunity from elementary disease, so that the system can be prepared for the next phase.
The first healer we would encounter is the person of Christ. The revelation of Christ is healing balm for the soul; that is why we cannot joke with the revelation of Christ; the solution to ignorance is knowledge. To be made free is to be healed (Rom. 8:1) Healing is a process; we cannot be healed in one day (Psalm 103:3). The diseases resident in the soul are many and they cannot be healed in one day. Hence, we need to cooperate with the Lord to be healed.
We are talking about the leaf of the Tree of Life. The whole tree is righteousness; the leaf, trunk, and every other part of the tree is righteousness. Righteousness is the solution to our unrighteousness (disease) (1 John 5:17; 1 Cor. 1:30). When God wants to heal unrighteousness, He introduces righteousness. Christ provides healing in a measure. The righteousness that is in Christ Jesus begins our healing. “I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.” (Romans 6:19)
Scripture says that "you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). Freedom is healing. Wrong configuration and habits would be changed by the revelation of Christ. We must yield to righteousness as it is revealed to us. There must be obedience to what is being revealed by hearing, for healing to occur.
Conversation led to our death and conversation will reverse it. A man who is fully saved is fully healed. The gospel contains the righteousness of God which is revealed from faith to faith (Rom. 1:16-17). It is good to rejoice at revelation but we must live by that which is revealed. “The just shall live by faith” means that the just shall live by that which is revealed. We walk not by sight but by faith (2 Cor. 5:17). There is a walk to be done to be healed. We must be excited at revelation and its demands. The same excitement with which we received it is the same excitement with which we must do its demands. Paul told the Corinthian church that he could not feed them with milk because they could not bear it (1 Cor. 3:1). Many cannot bear the demand of righteousness; they need to be fed to grow and have enough strength to bear it.
Revelation of righteousness makes a demand on flesh. It asks for a shift - a painful shift. Some shifts will humiliate us; some will make us lose grounds that we have always held on to, while some will affect our egos. At a point, excitement for revelation would die because of the demands. We see the demands as a tall order because of where we are standing; sometimes, our judgement has to be heightened to appreciate those demands of righteousness.
The heat of revelation brings about healing. Revelation comes to heal and clean us. When we yield to the revelation of righteousness, we are healed (Rom. 6:19). Holiness is a formation of a stature. A holy man is a man that has been raised and healed to an extent. However, the healing is not yet complete because such a man is still corruptible at this point.
“For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” (Matthew 13:15) The process of healing starts with seeing, hearing and understanding. The point of conversion is the point of obedience. Conversion means that sins will begin to be deleted. After seeing, hearing and understanding has taken place, what is required is obedience. Obedience to revelation breaks our arrangements (configuration). Our present arrangements (formation) came by wrong conversations carried out over time. To change that state, we have to undergo a process contrary to the first (wrong) conversation, through the revelation of righteousness (Rom. 8:30).
Being justified is by the faith which is in our Lord Jesus Christ. To come to the state of being justified, you have to be thoroughly healed and come to the image of the Son of God. There can be no healing unless revelation is obeyed. Many people can share revelation but find it difficult to obey the revelation. We cannot be healed unless we obey the commandments that come as a reason of the revelation of Christ.
The work of the spirit of wisdom and revelation must be intact when it comes to the beginning of healing (Eph. 1:17-18). To be made holy is to be healed to an extent. A holy man emerges from obeying doctrine which comes by revelation (Rom. 6:17). Being then made free (or made healed), we become servants of righteousness. Thus, by obeying revealed righteousness, our configuration changes in order to take a higher revelation of righteousness.
As we obey righteousness, we acquire life until we become holy. When we have acquired the life of Christ, then we will be qualified for another level of healing that comes by the revelation of everlasting life. The substances of everlasting life would heal us from corruption. God brings laws and revelations of everlasting life through teaching and preaching. The means through which the Father gave life to the Son is through commandments; our Lord Jesus trapped life (Everlasting Life and Eternal Life) through obedience to commandments. As we obey commandments laid out for us, we are quickened and we trap life.
Trapping life makes us increase in the stature of the life of Christ. After taking all the life that is in Christ Jesus, we are made ready for everlasting life. The everlasting life is the incorruptible life that was originally prepared for man. The realm of everlasting life is the realm of the Most Holy -- the realm of the life of the Father. To inherit this life, we must have obeyed His sayings. The sayings of the Father will be coming to heal us in the coming days.
In this realm of everlasting life, we are not allowed to live for ourselves; we are to live for the law that would make us live out everlasting life in our souls. It is a realm of selflessness. Selfishness is a major disease; it is the root cause of other diseases. The root of Satan’s problem was that he looked upon himself, started talking about himself and plotting for himself (Eze. 28:15, Isa. 14:13-14). This action was not allowed in the Most Holy Place where he dwelt. He corrupted the law of selflessness that resided within him. All that he and his fellow angels were created for was to hearken to God’s commandment (Psalm 101:20). Thus, he committed an abomination when he looked upon himself. To heal man of the disease of self, the law of everlasting life had to be revealed because self is a kind of life.
In the coming season, there will be so much grace ministered to us that will heal us from self. All the things that we are hearing is to bring us to this point where self can be dealt with. If one can handle self, he/she can handle death. We are called not to love our lives unto the death (Rev. 12:11). The kind of light that would heal self must first make us see the vanity in self. Self thrives through vanity. To heal us from self, God opens our eyes to see a higher life that we have to gain if we deny self; we see vanity in its real state by the opening of our eyes. If our eyes are not opened, we would continue to respond to death. We must understand that the things we dearly hold on to are corruptible. We should rather hold on to God’s laws and relinquish the corruptible.
In this realm of everlasting life, we do not live for ourselves. We should not make decisions in favour of ourselves because we want to inherit everlasting life. The Godhead who possess everlasting life are similarly selfless and do everything out of selflessness. Jesus agreed to die for the same people who crucified Him. By doing so, He was simply living out the life of the Godhead; He came to show us how Their life is. The Father is also selfless; His instructions are in our favour, not for Himself. He does not chastise us for Himself but for our profit, so that we can partake of His holiness (Heb. 12:10).
Commandments must be measured out to us to train us to be selfless in all things, including marriage. The laws that would carry marriage is selflessness. We would get to a place where, regardless of what is done to us, we would obey righteousness with the goal of getting Eternal Life. We often break laws when our partner in marriage does not obey God’s law (1Pet. 3:1). Instead of doing so, we should choose to obey God’s law in such situations with the mindset of winning such persons over.
They Godhead are interested in bringing an end to sin in us so that They can bring in everlasting righteousness (Daniel 9:24). When They come, They will order our conversations aright; and even in marriage. We must be healed of living for ourselves; and what will heal us is understanding, revelation and light. There is no healing without these things and without obedience. As we obey in the coming days, we will be healed.
