Text: Psa 8:1-9, Gen 1:9-30

“O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. [2] Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.” (Ps. 8:1-2). The same tongue with which God created the things in the beginning was what God employed to transfer the dominion of those things over to Adam.

There is a name of God that is made available ‘in the earth’ (Ps 8:1). Everything that was made on earth was made out of that name and will answer to that name. “Who has set thy glory above the heavens” (Psa 8:2). This “heavens” is the heaven of the earth.

The strength or rod of authority is reserved only for the “suckling” and  “babes” who are the meek of the earth, that are to inherit the earth. The image and likeness in which Adam was created is the realm of God’s earthly name. Within that earthly name are the expressions of all other earthly creations, including seas and animals. God made all these things and He handed the authority to govern them to one of such creatures -- man. God did this by giving man the requisite stature to govern the earth and crowned him with glory and honour (Heb. 2:7). Thus, Adam was a heaven of the earth.

Adam was blessed with the heavenly portion of the earth. One who is an Adam is a carrier of all the earth. Carnal men do not fall in this category, for they do not have the stature to carry the heavens of the earth. There are heavens in our earth and God raised and placed Adam in a particular heaven.

Adam’s soul was a little bit lower than that of angels (Heb. 2:7); he was given some heavenly properties. Adam had an excellent name in all the earth (Ps. 8:1). In the earth, glory was set above the heavens (Psa 8:1). Therefore, the ruler of the earth must be placed right above the heavens. That glory must subdue the earth and the heavens of the earth. Thus, Adam must have had the ability to arrange the stars. It was curious that God gave all this to man (Psa 8:4). The stature of being a little lower than angels is placed right above our earth.

“Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.” (Josh. 10:12). God did something for those who walked with Him -- He gave them the authority to handle heavens. For example, Joshua commanded the sun to be still (Josh. 10:12). No amount of faith can accomplish such a feat; it requires a certain kind of word. If we can access that same word, we can have authority over the heavenly bodies.

This power that Joshua had access to is still lower in comparison to Adam’s. The closeness of a heavenly body determines how low it is. The moon is closer to the earth than the sun, and as such, is easier to control. Similarly, it must require a higher power to control the stars (Psa 8:3) than to control the sun like Joshua did.

When God made heavens and the earth, Adam was made, raised and blessed to dress the garden and till the earth (Gen 2:15). The earth was not designed to be broken by things made out of it but by the same word that it was made by. The earth has a name and it can listen to that name, just like the winds obeyed Jesus. Thunders also have ears and can obey the name of the Lord that is in the earth (Job 40:9).

We are foreigners on the earth because we are new creations. We were once citizens of earth in our spirit, souls and bodies. However, we now have a dual nature. While we belong to another world, we still have earthly bodies and have the right to rule the earth.

Moses, Elijah and Jeremaiah are men who held the rods of the earth. Moses used a rod to part the sea and to destroy Egypt. Jeremiah prophesied until nations were uprooted and he could plant. Elijah broke Israel until they could return back to God. Elijah was a kind of Adam. These men were in the heavens of the earth and they came from plains of the heavens. Elijah was taken up into the heavens by chariots of fire.
