The knowledge that God gives a believer at any level cannot become a life without an activity of the way. In Genesis, the cherubs were positioned to keep the way of the tree of life. God protected not only the tree of life but the way (Gen. 3:24). The key to every tree is the way. Removing the way to the tree is to take away the bridge or the know-how to arrive at the life of God.
“And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth” (Gen. 6:12). The way is in the spirit and by the Spirit. When God begins dealing with a people at any level, He brings the knowledge of the realm to them. The Lord first gives knowledge before He gives the way. He brings knowledge with the intention of making us walk in the way. Without this way, we cannot arrive at the life that such knowledge holds.
“Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.” (Ezek. 28:15). At this time, the Lord is bringing the knowledge of things everlasting and of glory: the things of the Father. He is also bringing the way. The reason for the abundance of revelation is to the end that God would be able to lead us in the way of that revelation. The way translates the revelation into our lifestyle. Without the way, we can not make profit with the knowledge — we would possess knowledge but be void of life.
Our way of life is a product of knowing a way. All men on earth use a way to live. We are using ways of sin and death. It is possible to have doctrine and not profit with it. The giving of doctrine to us is with the intent that it will become a lifestyle. The Lord, by His Spirit, gives us the doctrine. The capacity to birth ways is given to us by the Holy Ghost, who is the Spirit of the way.
We should discern His way and leadings so that we would profit with the allocation of doctrine that is given. Our souls have been worked on by evil spirits through ways. A man can hear the truth but lack wisdom with ways. It is possible to short-circuit the power of knowledge when we do not discern the way. Every knowledge has its way. The bringing of way is to make us prosper and turn knowledge into truth. The activities of the way make us know the truth. Truth is proven by walking in the way. One can know the knowledge of the truth but not know the truth.
Truth makes us free (Jn. 8:32). Truth is a making as a result of the activity of the way. This way is not in our hands. We sometimes make the mistake of having knowledge but apply it our way, that is, using the knowledge in the way that seems right to us while we remain unchanged (Prov. 14:12). This would hinder us from the knowing truth because truth is not just a theology, but an experiential knowledge validated by freedom. When a man has ways according to truth, it is a sign of growth (Psa. 103:7).
“Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.” (Heb. 5:2). Compassion is not wholesome if knowledge is given to the ignorant, but they are not led in the way. The freedom which comes by doctrine is the greatest blessing that could happen to a man. We remain in bondage until the light of truth comes and makes us free. The formation of darkness in us would be broken as light is being given.
The Lord expects that as we are taking knowledge this season, we should also wait for ways. Without ways, knowledge would not become a life in us. We must complete the cycle of the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). Evil spirits also have ways and they have kept us trapped in these ways.
“Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.” (1 Corin. 12:2). Sin and death natures alongside hell and death natures survive in us via ways. The Lord desires to heighten His knowledge amidst us so that ways would be brought to us in order to free us from many entanglements. We must therefore pray to be more exposed to the way of the Lord.
