“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1-2). The beginning of the existence of man is the last existence of the Eternity where only the Godhead existed. The natural mind cannot comprehend Eternity or Eternal things. Therefore, the mind of the Godhead is higher than that of a man who is carnal. The Godhead are the only Eternal beings; God did not make any other thing Eternal. This is why the world of Eternity is beyond the comprehension of men. It is by mercy that God came to the level of Everlasting Life.
Thinking spiritual thoughts is an exercise in the spirit because as we keep thinking those thoughts, we will have those things. Unfortunately, many believers do not want to engage in the exercise of those spiritual thoughts. They would rather be engaged in pleasurable things that aid their carnality. Thinking after God's thoughts gives us life. God's primary thought is not anything ephemeral; it is not what men think. As such, His promise to man is Eternal Life (1 John 2:25).
Man has been exercised in wrong thoughts to an extent that he will fight anyone who wants to deliver him from the stronghold of those thoughts; because he does not want to be free from it. Our thoughts become our life and our life becomes our fear. This fear is not the fear of witches or demons but that which drives men and gives them ambitions. These men also include some ministers of the gospel who have ambitions driven by fear. Men have not yet defeated fear, this is why they still make plans for the future. What men are really afraid of is being cut short from a life they want to keep. Fear is a form of wisdom that enables a man to keep his life.
"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:" (Eph. 1:10). There is an eternal time, a spiritual heavenly time and an earthly time. Earthly time is slower than that of Eternity. However, the Godhead understands all timing. Satan is trying to read time with the apparatus of the power of heaven because he is afraid of God's decisions. He is afraid that God can turn his evil intentions for good.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1). This Word is not a spoken word; it is a person who was present at creation. Although the book of Genesis only mentioned God and the Holy Ghost at creation, the Word was also involved because God needed His input for creation to be genuine. The Word later became a man and journeyed till He was anointed. There is an anointing of God which is the oil of gladness (Heb. 1:9). That is what they use to anoint a God. However, Jesus did not gain anything from coming down and being exalted; it is a pure sacrifice of love. The form of God is better than the form of man that Jesus has taken upon Himself (Phil. 2:5-6). He is trapped eternally in the form of man because of love. He made this sacrifice so that we can come into the same place as He is, and become what He became.
God made creation because He is good and His mercies endure forever (Psa. 136:1-3). God is made up of goodness and mercies. Mercy refers to the thoughts that run God. The Godhead are merciful in Their thinking. It was mercy that provoked Jesus to come down to earth. The Godhead do not seek Their own. The thought of bringing forth creation was as a result of their selfless nature. Mercy is an eager yearning to do good and God’s desire to do good is uncontrollable. He is good to all and His tender mercies are upon all of His works (Psa. 145:9).
Eternal Life is a layer of mercy. We cannot do anything to qualify for it because it is given by the dictate of mercy (Rom. 9:15). The first mercy we encounter is the one that dispenses grace, while the more congealed form of mercy is the one that comes after grace has already been obtained. Raw mercy actually originates from an Eternal realm. When mercy is shown, time stands still because an Eternal element imposes itself on creation at that moment. The making of creation was not born out of a desire for the Godhead to please themselves. The reason why God made things was for the purpose of giving out life.
The Godhead is full of love and mercy. Eternal love is mercy while everlasting love is the grace of our Lord Jesus. This is not the same as the grace of Christ, which is faith. What moved the Godhead to step down from the eternal form into the created form was Their nature of love. This same loving nature made Jesus not to take the form of angels but the form of man. He became a man and from manhood, ascended back into God. There is the Everlasting word and the Eternal word that makes this possible. The everlasting realm is what the Bible defines as the sure place (Isa. 22:23). We come into this sure place by making our calling and election sure through Christ (2 Pet. 1:10). The sure place is the everlasting Kingdom and it is reserved only for those who have become sure men.
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude 1:21). We are to keep ourselves in the love of God. This love is the everlasting love. If we keep ourselves in this love, we would not be able to diminish. Satan wants us to reduce in quality. The everlasting dimension is where we are armed with the necessary life that will make us last and not pass away. The realm that does not pass away is Everlasting Life, while Eternal Life is greater. Knowing God may be regarded as Everlasting life, while knowing the only true God is Eternal Life.
Our goals are projections that spring from the god of this world. If our pursuit of God will give us the same things that other men acquire, then He does not stand out as the only True God. A man’s god is the thing that he is passionate about; it is his life. It is a man’s passion that makes him forsake one altar of worship for another. Satan veils himself, but he is the one who gives men the passion that makes them burn wrongly. When a man seeks after a god, he is rewarded with a kind of life because every god produces a life. The work of Satan in men must be undone through preaching so that men would see God and love Him passionately. There are things in God that will make us love Him more than any other achievement on earth. These are the things that will make us commit our lives to Him. God does not just want our lifetime; He also wants our eternity.
All that some men are committed to doing is building their lives. This is happening because Satan has fabricated various professions to take all of man’s devotions. If all that a man stands for, after the pursuit of a lifetime, is a mundane thing, he has achieved nothing. A god is powerful enough to demand a man’s lifetime devotion even without his knowledge.
God will continue to give life to men until He gives out His own life. This is so that we can live it out. Everyone who has the life of God will look exactly like Him and behave like Him. God does not want to sit on His throne alone; He wants to have many men who have inherited His manner of life (Heb. 1:9). To bring a man into godhood is to make him have Eternal Life. This will only happen by teaching him and raising him up, till he gets to the point where he has Eternal Life. Eternal Life is for lovers who have served life. The sign of Eternal Life is a particular love content. Asides from the wonders of that life, the life also has a doctrine content. God is life and He gives life; but in doing so, He will give us something that would demand our commitment.
