Revelation Hour (27th March, 2021)
Topic: The Manifestation of the Coming of the Son of God
Ministering: Pastor Thompson Ehima
The fellowship of the Father and the true God is domicile in the only begotten Son, where life everlasting and the promise of eternal life is given. If what we desire is to fellowship with the Father and with the true God, that fellowship is found in the only begotten Son.
Philippians 2:15
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world…”
There are pedigrees in the sonship of God. As seen in the scripture above, there were sons of God in a crooked and perverse nation, whose manifestation is as the beloved Son. The only begotten is the kind of Son that has the material of the Father and the true God, that is, He manifests the Father and the true God. The manifestation of the Father is the manifestation of everlasting life while the manifestation of the true God is the manifestation of eternal life.
1 John 5:20
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
The coming mentioned in the scripture above was not referring to His coming in the flesh; rather, John was talking about the revelation of the Son of God (the only begotten Son of God) in the midst of the Church.
Hebrews 9:28
“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
The second coming of the Son of God is first of all about His coming to us, the Church. He will not just come once; He will keep coming and His coming is attached to manifesting Himself.
John 14:18-19
“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. [19] Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.”
Jesus was not talking about physically seeing Him. When Apostle John said “that which was from the beginning which we have heard, which we have seen, which we have looked upon and our hands have handled of the word of life...” (1 John. 1:1), he was not talking about the Jesus they saw in the days of His flesh. There were a company of people in the body at that time that the Son of God (Word of Life) had come to. The company of “we” in 1 John 1:1 had experienced John 14:19. There had been a number of people amidst the church that have had access to His coming which ushered them into another measurement. There was a manifestation that the coming of the Lord brought to them in their time.
Although it was John that was writing in 1 John 1, he said “we”. “We” are those that the Son of God had been coming to. Jesus has come at various times to people. For example, we have the account of our father of blessed memory, Reverend Kenneth E. Hagin. The coming of the Lord to him brought the revelation of the word of faith, which he (Reverend Hagin) heard, saw, looked upon and handled. 1st John recorded that the disciples and apostles handled the word that came to them; they gained mastery over it. To handle means to put it into use. Jesus had never stopped coming since then, He kept coming and is still coming.
The purpose of the manifestation of the word of Christ is to deal with darkness – to deal with unfruitful works. Darkness is the manifestation of unfruitful works in the people of God. It is possible for us to be born again and filled with the Holy ghost, speak in tongues and bring forth manifestation of the gift of the Spirit but still have works of darkness inside us. When the word of Christ comes to a people, the essence of this manifestation is to deal with the works of darkness in the souls of the people.
Works of darkness is referred to as uncleanliness, unrighteousness and ungodliness of men that hold the word of truth in unrighteousness. There are things that we do that are not like God. These works were wrought by principalities, powers and rulers of the darkness of this world. We learnt the unfruitful works of darkness through lust - worldly lust that seeks to cause the soul to be dark. To be dark has to do with our understanding; darkness tampers with our understanding. The summation of the works of darkness is not the absence of understanding, but the darkening of the understanding.
Evil spirits have tampered with understanding by works; they do this by designing the course of this world and making sure everyone goes through that learning. Every man except One, has gone through the training of darkened understanding. Darkened understanding is not that man cannot read the Bible; it means man will see Bible differently. The course of this world was designed to carry out a work that will make man dark in his understanding. When a man has gone through these works, he is alienated from God and separated from the life of God, which is Christ Life.
One of the essences of the manifestation of Christ is the enlightenment of our understanding. When our understanding is enlightened, a work takes place in us. We will put on works that are wrought in light because light also carries out a work in the soul. There are things the understanding which comes by reason of darkness causes a man to live by. At every decision that we undertake, a work is being done in us. So, as our eyes of understanding are being enlightened, we are expected to do a contrary work (Romans 6:19-20). The revelation of Christ shows you what is right because there is a way that seemeth good to man (Proverbs 14:12). It is also to undo what has been wrought in the soul. Satan hides darkness inside lust. Youthful lust is a kind of strength; they are works of darkness. Christ was manifested to deal with all works of darkness.
Ephesians 5:14-17
"Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. [15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, [16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. [17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”
"Fools" refer to those without the spirit of wisdom and revelation. The spirit of wisdom and revelation makes one wise. Christ gives light; the giving of light is the giving of righteousness. Obeying works of righteousness deals with works of darkness. When works of darkness are being dealt with, Jesus as the only begotten Son begins to manifest to us. We cannot deny that the Son of God is coming to us. We are supposed to see Him. The month of April is a special time for the Son of God to come; just as He came in years past to give us light that was meant to deal with our darkness. The prophecy said "I am come". So, April is for the coming of the Son of God. The coming of Christ with light was to deal with the works of darkness in us. The Son of God is coming and when He comes, He gives an understanding.
April is meant to be for the coming of the Son of God. What manner of men ought we to be then, in the day of His coming? Jesus Christ spoke about a lot of parables in the Bible and some of those parables were about His coming. But the general body of Christ has interpreted it to mean rapture. Those parables in the gospels are His coming to us to give understanding of everlasting life and then understanding of eternal life. Christ has been coming to us; but the understanding that He is coming with in April is because He wants to be near us so that we can hear, see, look upon Him clearer, and handle what He is bringing to us.
We must not approach April with the general notion of word and prayer. We must make it a personal thing - that He is coming for each individual. It is not going to be a time for sermonizing. Just as Christ brought light to deal with darkness, the Son of God is coming with everlasting understanding.
1 John 5:20
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
This understanding is not the enlightening understanding that Christ gave, but an everlasting understanding. We are going to be faced with a lot of distractions in a bid to make us miss His coming.
Matthew 24:27
“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
The “coming” mentioned in the scripture above shows that it is not a one-time experience; there will be comings that will culminate into rapture. The reason why rapture has not taken place is because the Son of man has not finished His comings. In John chapter 14, Jesus kept talking about His coming. There is a lightening that correlates with His coming. Lightening means understanding. We cannot talk about His coming without talking about light. We have enjoyed seasons of coming in times past; but this one is going to be heightened. There is a shining light that we must partake of in this season.
Just as it is very easy for a man to miss lightning, everlasting light is faster than that kind of light. The speed of understanding is going to be faster. Our prayer in this season should be that God should make us of quick understanding. In the coming of the Son of man is all the comings encapsulated. He will be coming to us as Jesus with the milk of the word, as Christ, and as the only Begotten; to reveal who the Father is and to reveal eternal life to us.pp
There are different kinds of coming. The coming as a thief in the night mentioned in scripture is about Christ because night represents the sanctuary. In Matthew 24, the disciples asked “when shall these things be and what shall be the signs of your coming?”. We thought that teaching was about the last day coming. There are comings that must take place before the last day when He will come to take His saints. If the Church does not welcome His comings, there will not be rapture. There must be a church that will welcome all the manners of His coming.
The coming of the Lord as a thief in the night is to bless us with light so as to destroy the works of darkness. But that is not sufficient for us. This season, the Lord wants to come to us as everlasting life. That is where the instructions of "gird up the loins" originated from. You must be able to engage the light as it is coming.
The Son of God is come! He wrote to the churches "I come quickly" (Revelation 22:12). He said to one of the churches that "I stand at the door" (Revelation 3:20), meaning He has come already. We did not just arrive at this season, works brought us here. Hence, we must make a diligent inquiry of the Lord so as to prepare us for His coming.
One of the things that will make us receive His coming is that we must pray for our love to increase. We must love His coming; we will not be able to receive the light if we do not love His coming. We must begin to seriously engage love in this season; we must not be tired of His coming. Our daddy, Reverend Kayode was talking about Charity. Charity is not just love for the brethren; it is also the love for the Father. Fervent charity is another word for the love of the Father. Charity walk is what commends us for the Father’s revelation. Charity is the bond of perfectness (Colossians 3:14). From this season onward, one major criterion is love walk. There are different levels of love walks. As we come into everlasting life, the Lord will begin to show different levels of love walks.
John 3:35
"The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand."
John 5:20
"For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel."
The mystery of the Father is born out of love. They do not give the mystery of everlasting life except by love. Everlasting life and Eternal Life are works of Love. When light begins to come to us and They are showing us love, we must begin to reciprocate it. One of the things that will show the works of those looking for the Father is their hatred for the world - they do not love the world. This is beyond what we think; it has to be revealed to us. More so, it is not about what we do not do; but the manner of the heart, that will commend us to the Father that we do not love the world. We have to be taught.
Ephesians 4:17-18
"This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart…"
Understanding informs how we walk. The demand of the hour is that we must show fervent love. Fervent love will show to the Father that we do not love the world. Then, the Father can give us His things. It is the same principle with Christ. Before they brought Christ to us, they checked our love (Ephesians 1:15).
Philemon 1:5-6
"Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints: That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus."
Their faith was not just towards the Lord Jesus, but to all the saints. When you love the saints, you love the Lord Jesus. When you love your brethren in Christ, you love Christ. When you have fervent charity towards the brethren, the love of the Father is in you. There is a faith and a love that we should have even towards all saints because they (saints) are Christ in the spirit. Exercising your love and faith towards the Lord Jesus and towards all the saints is a communication of your faith (not the faith of the Lord Jesus). The communication of the faith is to become effectual. The word effectual means a faith that is more potent; a faith that can deliver a better result; a faith that can make something more available for you.
There is something that is in Christ Jesus that must be accessed, which is the faith of the Son. We will not be able to access that which is effectual until we have shown a faith and love towards the Lord Jesus Christ and towards all the saints (Phil 1:5). Likewise, we cannot have access to His coming in order to give us understanding, without loving His coming. Therefore, we must trust heaven to show us the kind of works that will prove to the Father that we do not have the love of this world in us; not just by what we say alone. God proves men with works.
The Son of God wants to come nearer to us in this season that we are in. We must repent; for the kingdom of God is at hand (Matthew 3:2). We must change our heart postures; for the coming of the Son of God is at hand. On Sunday, I heard it in my spirit “Behold, the bridegroom standeth at the door” (Revelation 3:20). I immediately knew what it meant. Are we prepared for what we have been looking for?
We may be used to Christ which is dwelling in our hearts by faith, but He that is coming is a Being of Everlasting Life. The posture of Christ is not sufficient to accommodate Him. There is a kind of posture we must have to receive this everlasting Being that is coming to us. We need to be diligent enough to seek Him in order to know how we should receive His coming. The Son of God is coming to give us understanding. He told the churches in the book of Revelation “Behold I come quickly and my reward is with me” (Revelation 22:12). That reward is Eternal Life but what is coming to us now is Everlasting Life. We must have a posture of heart to receive His coming.
Throughout the month of April, the Son of God will be coming to us in different shades. Each day and night will be dynamic. He will be increasing our understanding until we receive all that He has packaged to give to us, so that we can boldly also say like John “that which is in the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen, which we have looked upon’ and eventually handled” (1 John 1:1). How did they hear, see and look upon? It was when He came to them, they heard, saw and looked into the understanding.
So also, we will be able to say, we saw, we heard, looked upon and handled these things; even though we are still in the fellowship of the Father, because we will continue to receive these things. “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). When He comes, there is a blood, a cup and a bread He will give; and we will keep drinking into His coming. We will keep changing, hearing and beholding until we become like Him (2 Corinthians 3:18).
