Transcript Excerpt
Jesus Christ thought it not robbery to be in the form of God; He made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a man (Philipp. 2:6-7). 2 Corinthians 8:9 further explains that Jesus was made poor so that we might become rich. We often use this scripture when we are looking for mammon, but what makes God ‘God’ is not silver or gold. When God came in the person of a man, He came very poor. This is not poverty in the same way the world defines poverty; for God to take on the personality of a man is actually poverty.
Jesus came in the form of man to show us how to move from a place of no reputation to the highest point of reputation. This is the greatest privilege for creation to come into and this is the understanding that He has come to give. As much as this is a blessing, the devil would war to stop this understanding because this is the gift of Christ. Understanding is a key thing to accessing this blessing and the devil has made sure that this understanding is not given, and even when it is available, it is not understood. What the enemy really has put up against the Church is to stop them from receiving this understanding by giving them another understanding. Those who refuse to receive the understanding of God do so because of the understanding they have.
The soul has hands with which it holds things. For a soul to be unable to receive the understanding of God, it has to be holding on to something else. What the devil did is to make sure that our soul is constantly receiving something so that at the day of the appearing of God, we would not have reason to receive another understanding.
There is the giving of understanding and the response to the understanding. The Son of God is come to give us an understanding but the fact that it is available does not mean that everyone will access it. The reason we do not access it is because of the understanding that has framed us.
What we call sin is an understanding of a way of life. There is a way that seems right but the end is destruction (Prov. 14:12). The devil does not describe it to us as something that is destructive but as something that is right. This also tells us that sin is a form of righteousness. If it does not seem right, we will not keep it.
When Jesus came to Israel, there was something they were expecting from the Messiah, which was to deliver them from their enemies in the natural. But when they saw him proclaiming that He is the one to come, everything about Him was an insult to what they were expecting. He was born in a manger and they could not reconcile this to what God had promised them. The way we are expecting Him to come is not the way He would come. We are all expecting Him based on our understanding. May the Lord touch our expectations and make them right because these are the places where we can miss out on recognizing Him.
As we are looking for Him, what are we expecting from him? His purpose or expectation is that we might have life abundantly. Every other thing that we expect to see is because of the one thing that we are not seeing. The moment Adam shifted his focus from God, he realized that there are some other needs that need to be attended to. What God has always been looking for, especially when He shuts things down around us, is to cause a holy distraction for us to withdraw from every other thing that we are looking for and to begin to press for that one thing that we are supposed to be looking for.
Carnality is an understanding. It is because of carnality that we are unable to see God and be subject to Him. Christ is the first understanding that is being ministered to a carnal man. Christ is a wake up call and an exercise of the mind to strip the mind of the wearing of carnality which is a technology that Satan designed to stop the eyes of man from seeing God. Without being purged of this guile of carnality, we would not have the strength to behold Him when He comes.
The natural man today is not the original natural man that God created, but is a man that has become carnal (1 Corin. 2:14). A carnal man is a raising of laws and this man cannot have fellowship with God. What framed us are laws of mischief or laws of sin and death (Ps. 51:5). The things that surround us, from our time of birth, are designed to consolidate blindness in us so that when God comes, we will be unable to see Him. Blindness is what brings unbelief (2 Corin. 4:4).
There is something called vanity of the mind (Eph. 4:17). Vanity is anything that before God is nothing. It would take God to heal us to a place where we would see what men glory in as dung. Satan has painted a picture for us that makes us see so much gain in dung. This is ignorance or a hold of an understanding that is not God. The reason we hold on to these things is because there is some kind of glory about it, but this glory that men hold is supposed to be a shame.
The reason our spirit man is resurrected is so that our soul can look up. Many physical miracles that Jesus did was a prophecy of what He wants to do in the soul of man. The Sabbath is to strengthen us so that we can look up because it is only Christ that can look up. It is difficult to make a man who cannot see God to pursue God. We pursue only what we see.
The doctrine of Christ is to set a man’s heart (Dan 10:12). The wilderness is a place of chastening oneself to have the right posture when God would appear because God is a pearl that cannot be cast before swine. In every heart is a beast according to the kind of understanding the heart is holding; and God said it is not lawful for Him to cast the pearls of understanding before swine.
10 of the 12 men who went to spy the land brought back a report of giants in the land. The reason many of us are seeing impossibilities is because we have not allowed the training of Christ to give us understanding. When we argue, we show that the work of Christ has not been thoroughly done in us yet. A Christ would see hope in this calling, because the gospel of Christ is the hope of our glory.
Blessings!
