“He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” (Psalm 105:14-15). Those who are referred to as anointed’ and ‘prophets’ here are not those in the office of the fivefold ministry but a people that God is leading. The word ‘anointed’ means Christ. The first person or stature that God will raise is the “anointed one”.

Many ministers of the gospel use these phrases (anointed and prophets) when referring to themselves; they refer to it in terms of their calling into the fivefold ministry. It can serve that purpose also. However, those words mean more than that. God referred to the children of Israel as anointed and prophets when He was leading the children of Israel from one nation to another (Psalm 105:13). This tells us that God can lead a million anointed men at once. Psalm 105:15 shows the order of leading of the Spirit. It means that as many who are led or have been led by the Spirit, they will become Christs and eventually become prophets.

The prophetic nature is a nature higher than that of the anointed one. God referred to Abraham as a prophet, this means that Abraham was more than just an anointed one (Gen. 20:6-7). This does not mean that Abraham was called into the prophetic ministry like Samuel was called; neither did he preach like John the Baptist. Abraham was rearing animals and leading flocks from one place to another. Yet, God referred to him as a prophet. Abraham’s occupation was prophetic, the design was by God. Abraham’s lifestyle was a carved prophetic lifestyle. This means that a prophetic nature can weave itself around an earthly profession. Abraham was a shepherd and husband. Abraham gave birth to Isaac prophetically--how a prophet would generate his offspring.

All of Abraham’s earthly life design was a prophetic code. Everything Abraham did on earth had been written concerning him. It means that prophets are those who walk on the face of the earth as it is written concerning them. So Abraham was more than just an anointed one. The anointed ones are mini prophets, because Christ is a prophet too.

However, there is a difference between “my anointed” and “my prophet”. The word “my” has an attachment to God Himself. The scripture did not say, “do not do a prophet no harm” but “do not do my prophet no harm”. Many prophets that we know today are not yet in this category of the prophetic (that is God’s). There are all manners of prophets that God can speak to in dreams and visions, but those are not the kind of prophets that Psalm 105:15 is referring to.

God’s own prophets are those who are raised by His commandments, statutes and laws. “And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” (Ezek. 36:27). The phrase “my spirit” here refers to “my law”; that is, God’s own law. So there is a “my” that can be used for Christ or the anointed, but there is also a “my” for prophets. These two realms or status hold God’s law in degrees.

The Old Testament prophets, especially the prophets of scriptures (from Isaiah to Malachi) have the Spirit upon them to say things ahead of time, but some of them are not particularly in the category of those who are referred to as “my prophets”. Some of them were in the category of “my anointed” in nature because they were led by God to an extent (1 Pet. 1:11). There is no prophet in the Old Testament who was not led by God in some form or measure. In the Old Testament, no one can be a prophet except he has learnt to follow a higher prophet. One who would be a prophet must have studied the wind, you must have gone through the school of prophets. Elisha had to follow Elijah, and by doing that, he was learning the way of the prophetic.

Moses grew more than just an anointed one, he also came into the status of those who are referred to as “my prophet”. God said concerning Moses, in response to Miriam and Aaron who made some unlawful statements or protest, ...If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house” (Numbers 12:6-7).

God was telling Aaron and Miriam that they do not have a house that they are attached to, and that the commitment to God’s people was Moses’ charge or duty.  You cannot be a governor over God’s people (like Moses), if you don’t have an oversight over them. “Mine house” speaks of Israel and that is where God wants to dwell. God will not just give anybody charge over His house.

So God’s house belongs to His prophets. Being a prophet of this kind is not an ordinary thing. Some people are called prophets of the New Testament and they have no sense of the testimony. What some people term or esteem as New Testament prophets are those who give word of knowledge or see visions. However, a New Testament prophet is more than that. In the book of Acts, prophets were not defined by the operation of the gift of the word of knowledge. Concerning Agabus, Jesus told Rev. Kenneth Hagin that prophets are first preachers and teachers. A prophet of the New Testament should be able to teach the Bible.

The Prophets in the book of Acts who came to Antioch did not manifest gifts of the Spirit; people like Silas taught the Bible, exhorted the brethren, and confirmed them. They did that with words and not with visions (Acts 15:32). One vital proof of the prophetic is the ability to teach scriptures. A prophet who can operate revelational gifts but lacks the understanding of scriptures still needs to grow because such a prophet is not yet known in the spirit.

Prophets ought to speak the word of God, even though, people like or esteem prophets who speak about their tomorrow or their natural life and not those who teach doctrine. Meanwhile, the teaching of doctrine is the escape route from the adversary (who is also prophetic). Though the prophetic nature of Satan is perverted, it is still intact (Ezek. 28:17). Many people who are called prophets today are not really prophets, they are soothsayers. Some other people build doctrine based on outward experiences that they had. Any prophet who will not allow the operation of faith in souls is not a prophet. Any prophet who will kill the breath of faith in souls is not a true prophet.

God said concerning Moses, “With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” (Num. 12:8). The use of the phrase “mouth to mouth” means that God will not use some other medium to speak to Moses. Moses is awake (in understanding) when God is talking to him. For a man to stand and hear God, he must have entered His presence. You need enough spiritual stature to understand what the words of God’s mouth are saying. It is not every Christian who has the capacity to understand what the words of God’s mouth are saying. Some people claim to hear God but what they are hearing are not the words of God’s mouth.

The phrase ‘similitude of the Lord’ means something that is in the likeness of God. This buttresses the truth that no one has ever seen God at any time except the only begotten Son of God (John 1:18). The only person God related with, without any similitude is our Lord Jesus. Even angels relate with God having that similitude still present. However, they see God better than how Moses saw God. Similitude here refers to God’s back and this does not refer to a physical backside but God’s projection, or His face that is not exact. It is a great privilege for anyone to behold that similitude of God. However, there was no similitude at all when Jesus was relating with the Father; He related with the raw God.

On the Mount of Transfiguration, there were two everlasting men (Moses and Elijah) that stood side by side with Jesus. Both of them were prophets, but our Lord Jesus was another Prophet in their midst. “Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” (Matt. 17:4-5). The cloud was not just a manifestation, it was a reaction from God. It means that God did not like what Peter said, and that there is no need to build any tabernacle for anyone when Jesus is present. No other person should be heard but Jesus. Elijah and Moses saw the similitude of God, but Jesus interfaced with the reality of Godthe true God.

The anointed in Psalm 105:15 refers to a generation of Christ. The inauguration into the anointed life or nature is in two folds: first is in our spirit at New Birth and the second is in our soul. At New Birth, the spirit was newly created, and that new creation is Christ, the anointed one. This means that the man who is born again has no other destiny but to be led by the Spirit. And because of this agenda, Satan also fights. Satan knows that the destiny of any Christ cannot be realised except they are led by the Spirit. This is why Satan wars with Christs; he fights the leading of the Spirit in the life of believers. There can never be a realization of the Christos or anointed life (in our spirit) without the leading of the Spirit. God leads a man or a people firstly as the anointed and then makes them prophets. The key to a prophetic life is the anointed life.

Christ is a kind of grace in God that turns a mere man to the man that is His choice. Without the provision of Christ, one can never be a (new) man that God is pleased with. A man should please God. Many men have not yet pleased God. God knows that many believers have not left the boundary of mere men, so He still deals with them as men. Though believers are Christ in their spirit, God does not deal with our potential as Christ.

Many believers are despising the process or the flow of the life that is within (the spirit) to the soul. No baby Christian can come into the presence of God. There are many presences (or courts) where children are kept. Activities happen in those courts that makes one (a child) think he is with God, meanwhile he is still far from God.

A man has not really returned from being astray when he gets born again; because where we went astray is in our souls. God does not deal with the soul as though He is dealing with the spirit. So some Christian erroneously take for the soul what God did in their spirits. The spirit of a believer is with God, but the soul is still far. The day a man gets born again, it was his spirit that was raised with Christ and not his soul. There is a quality of life that a man who has been raised with Christ should exhibit. If we have all been raised, then there should not be anything like “believers’ class” in churches because we would have automatically known the Lord. But that is not the case. Jesus said we should learn of Him (Matt. 11:29). Apostle Paul also told the Church, “ye have not so learned Christ” (Eph. 4:20). It means that there is need for a believer to begin to learn after the New Birth because the soul is yet a baby.

The statement, “Touch not my anointed”, does not refer to those who preach but men who are being led by God. The first point of call is to be anointed. Then the next level is the prophet. The phrase “Touch not my anointed” means “do not touch my process or do not abort the process of the anointed life in a man”. This is because the way out of the captivity of flesh is the anointed life. So it is important to understand the posture and conversation of those who have attained the status of the anointed life.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matt. 5:3, 8). Those who are blessed or pure in heart are Christs. It will only take a Christ to see God. Seeing God makes a Christ to become a prophet. It takes prophetic stature to see God, but that won’t happen except the man is first anointed. A man cannot be raised as a seer except the nature for it has been worked in the soul.

There are prophetic sacrifices needed to make the heart qualified for God to put His eyes on it (to see God). A meek spirit is a sacrifice. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” (Isaiah 61:1). Before the good tidings can be preached to a man, he must be led by the Spirit. This is because a man who is not led by the Spirit will not be broken.

It takes the leading of the Spirit to break a man. Many believers have not been led at all. The leading of the Spirit pushes a man to a place where he can hear good tidings. To be broken hearted is also a sacrifice; God must take one through a path to make the heart become like this.

The anointed ones are known by the sacrifices they have made. A man who is no longer in control of his life is an anointed one, and God says that such a man should not be touched. A man who God is breaking (broken hearted) should not be touched. A man can be mighty in ministry, but he has never been broken by God. The nature of the anointed one is such that it allows the Lord. The high prophetic sacrifice that Jesus made for Eternal Life can be summed up in these words, “not my will but Your will be done” (Luke 22:42). Every Christ would always allow God’s will. By sacrifices, natures are constructed inside the soul. A meek person is not just someone who is naturally gentle, but a man who the Holy Ghost can lead.

Every Christ is armed with the knowledge of Christ; such a one has learnt the anointed life. The anointed nature must be in place before one can graduate into the prophetic. In Matthew 5, Jesus explained the program of the anointed and the prophets. For example, those who shall receive mercy speak of those who will be transited from Christ into the prophetic. A man who is pure in heart will end up making peace with God. Then he would be called a child of God. The children of God are also referred to as “the brethren, the prophets”; they are the ones who are seeing God (Rev. 22:9).

Prophets are the yardstick of judgment as against eternal fire. Scriptures talked about a time when Jesus would come down with holy angels to execute judgment upon the earth (Matt. 25:31-40). The holy angels are the brethren, the prophets. They are not angels with wings, as in created angels. Angels here refer to servants; they are men who have served God in the ultimate capacity.

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matt. 25:40). Jesus is saying that a man’s attitude towards these brethren could determine his eternal destination. A man’s show of compassion, kindness and love to the brethren shows that he does not have the second or great death in his soul. This is because it is not easy to love these brethren. These brethren are so designed against the world. They are unloveable by the world.

Raising brethren is raising many Jesuses on earth and when you reject a brother, you have rejected Jesus. A brother of this category is he who Jesus has worked on; they are prophets; they are books. What is written in the book is in them, because they have kept the sayings of the prophecy of the book (Rev. 22:9).  A brother is a book that has been made by God. A book is a concealed life that can be read or made open. Giving alms to men who are in need is good, but doing good to brethren is beyond this. To be in prison speaks of a time when a brother is on trial or is being trained by Jesus, what will be your reaction to him? The pathway of the brethren, at times, does not look pleasant or loveable by men.

Jesus got all these messages from the book through everlasting wisdom. What tells whether one is a sheep or goat is the character of the soul. Some people are sheep while some are goats. Only God can tell one from the other. It can only take God to separate between a sheep and a goat. Looking at the twelve disciples, eleven (11) were sheep, one (1) was a goat. Another word for goat means “a devil”. Some souls are devils. In the spirit, some souls do not look like that of a man, even though the spirit of the man is born again.

The term goat speaks of the general nature of evil, but there are classifications in that nature of goat. Goat is the background nature. Goats speak of someone who is not yielding to the leading of the Spirit. Jesus knew Judas Iscariot from the beginning that he was a devil or a goat. Some goats are in churches and anointing cannot deal with them because they are devils.

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matthew 25:41). This everlasting fire is not hell. Hell was not what was prepared for the devil. It’s the lake of fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels. Before a man can go into the lake of fire, he must become an angel and must have served Satan so much that he has possessed his angelic nature. An angel is someone who is tied to his master and cannot disobey his master. So the lake of fire is a region for angels, and men can become such angels by nature. When Satan is teaching men to do things, he knows that they can, by law, become like himself.

The goats were thrown into everlasting fire because they harmed the prophets. They harmed the prophets by not attending to their needs when they were hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, stranger etc. These things can tell who will be thrown into the lake of fire. These things show that the goats abhorred the brethren. A man who does not like the anointed ones will hate prophets. People often assume that they like or know God, but this can only be proved by their reaction to a man who is living on earth like God. Such a man would live contrary to how most men (including believers) live. So it is very possible for the lifestyle of such a man to be hated.

Every sheep has a tendency to be a goat. Many Christians have a problem with the least prophetic lifethe life of Christ. How much more the life of a prophet? When Christ is talking about His faith, many Christians are provoked, it means that there is something evil inside them.

Brethren are dangerous people. When brethren have been raised to finish, the age has ended. The vision of God is to raise the prophets. What’s delaying our Lord Jesus from coming the second time is the raising of prophets like Him. Moses said, “The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;” (Deut. 18:15).

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.” (Deut. 18:18-19). “My words” here refer to everlasting laws. This means that a prophet should give everlasting life. John 1 is a thesis of everlasting life. It took a prophet to introduce the prophet. An ordinary man cannot see the prophet; he will not know him.

“And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?” (John 1:19). The Jews sent priests and Levites to John the Baptist. They sent Christs of the old covenant to him because they knew some things that many do not know. What the oracles of God will raise are priests and Levites (Romans 1-2). They sent such men because they discerned what kind of prophet John the Baptist was.

And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.” (John 1:20). John said he is not “the Christ” because there could be many Christs, but he was not the Christ. “And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?” (John 1:21-22). This shows that the Jews know of these three things: Christ, Elias and the Prophet. These are the three levels that doctrine is built around. Christ is the anointed one, while Elias is the intermediary between Christ and the prophet. The Prophet here refers to the prophet of God. Elias or Elijah means Lord God; so a man with the operation of both Lord and God is needed to unveil the prophet. Jesus is the Prophet, and He wants to also raise other prophets. Prophets are sons of God.

Prophets are priests. So if Christ is a priest, then, a prophet is a high priest. The secret of a prophet is in the tabernacle. A prophet is a tabernacle; he is the Most Holy that can be anointed (Dan. 9:24). The end of the prophetic journey is that a man will have everlasting life and he won’t be able to cannot turn from it. This what it means to be saved to the uttermost. Such a man has become an angel with an oath. It is by our spiritual walk that we take oath. A man’s nature or character shows what kind of oath he has taken.

God has vowed that prophets will be raised on earth; men who will have the fullness of everlasting life. The jacket of everlasting life is the prophetic nature. Everlasting men are prophets. Satan hates that and he is afraid of it, but God is committed to make us prophets. We should thank God for that.
